Need some help, trying to decide which would be a better buy.

Depends on how much they're going for, your budget, etc. The 60's obviously have another midrange/woofer so they're able to get a bit lower and have a bit better overall wattage rating. They're also bigger and taller.

Monitor 60's for $130
Monitor 50's for $100

IMO its worth it for the extra $30 to pick up the 60's if for the add'l mid/woofer alone. Either one is a great deal for what your getting. The difference in price in their updated TSI line is $200 between the 2

Newegg listed the Monitor 60s the day I won a pair of refurbished 50s for $150 (+$50 shipping) on the eBay Polk Direct store. The 50s work great, but I regret not getting the 60s, especially since the 50s are maple-colored vinyl rather than black or cherry colored vinyl I was hoping to get. Then they drop the 30s from $120 to $100 and the CS1 from $100 to $80 just a couple of hours after I bought them. I have the worst luck. Poor me.

Get the 60s if you can spare the extra $60. I just bought the 50s. They sound great but more is always better, right? In this case you're getting 50% more woofer for only 30% more cost.

I've had the 50's for about a month, and I love them. I recently bi-amped them, and feel I can hear a pretty big difference. I just added 20's for rears, and they sound great as well.

Since I will never hear the 60's, I'm happy with the 50's.
(Until March '10 when I overhaul the whole thing again- daydreaming of a projector and 106" screen with 4K for speakers )

Every time you upgrade you spoil yourself to a higher level. I recently stayed in a hotel, and they had a 30" tube tv on local cable... that's it. It was a rough night.

If you can afford it get the 60's...the price difference is minimal.

Unless the cabinet color really bugs you (and trust me, it would drive me batshit) you're not missing out on really anything. A 4hz lower extension really isn't all that much, and if you have a subwoofer it's negated anyway. They have a little better output, but I guess that no one plays their speakers to their peak wattage.

If it really drives you nuts, put 'em up on Craigslist, eBay and here. I guarantee you'll sell them. You'll lose a little bit of money, but in the end satisfaction is the goal.

oh my god

get the 60s all day!!!

i got the t90e (european monitor 60) and i LOVE THEM

a friend of mine for the monitor 50 with a 606 last weekend.
i went there to listen to it.
it sounds nice, but nothing like the 60 (t90e)

i noticed a HUGE DIFFERENCE as i listen to my t90e everyday

maybe it was his 606, i dont know. but it didnt sound good to me after we calibrated the 606 with the audyssey & them popped in transformers.

HE was pleased, i just nodded away.
he came to my house the next day and was blown away.
he instantly heard the difference
