Looks like it's locked to that early November date. Nice supplements. Hope Target will come through for you all before release.

Best bet is to wait and see if Target has another B2G1 sale in November and simply order it again.

It's happened to me with other stuff- approve, approve, approve,...then cancelled.
Then another sale rolls around eventually and lo and behold, the item has been released and available to order.

Just have to have a little patience.

They just did the same thing to my copy of How To Make a Monster, not surprised really.

Amazon cancelled my order of Day the World Ended last night. Shout sure is having trouble with these. Hopefully the ones with updated release dates won't be cancelled.

I'm kinda worried about Day the World Ended , This is one I was most excited about when Shout announced these old I think AIP titles and this one was pulled from Shout's own web sight . Shout said not coming this year , They hope for next year . No date and didn't sound to promising . Hopefully it's just because there working on giving us the best presentation they can .

I just received this yesterday as well (with How to Make a Monster) and watched it last night and I can report that it looks and sounds GREAT! If you are like me and grew up in the 60's watching this film on a crappy, old black and white Tv and you had to get up out of your seat every 30 minutes or so to bang on the tv to get the picture back, then you will be overjoyed with this release as I am. I have never seen this look so good and I wonder if it ever did, outside of the theater showings. The sound is nice and loud and clear. The extras are short but enjoyable. I really wish they put the MSTK episode on here but I have the Dvd so I will just make it a combo pack.

As for the film itself, I have loved it ever since my older brother and I were kids and were absolutely transfixed by the whole thing. The film moves fast with the action and how Robert Hernandez who plays Miguel, the shell shocked kid trying to out run the Colossal Man in his truck, didn't get nominated for best supporting actor is beyond me.

Sally Fraser is the Colossal Mans sister and she is great. She is hot as hell...

and is kind of the poor mans Beverly Garland (which is pretty poor). She can also be seen in timeless classics such as It Conquered the World (1956), Giant from the Unknown (1958)(coming soon on blu ray from Film Detective), Earth vs. the Spider (1958) and even North by Northwest (1959) where she has an uncredited role as UN Receptionist #1.

[Show spoiler]

I wish Hitchcock gave her the lead in The Birds.

The film does suffer from Glenn Langan not returning to reprise his role as Lt. Colonel Glenn Manning but Dean Parkin does a sufficient job and he can growl really good. My wife was upstairs watching her shows and I had the volume cranked up. When it was all over she asked me if I was watching a movie "with a chainsaw in it", ha ha. I had forgotten how great the ending was when
[Show spoiler]the Colossal Man grabs some electrical wires and turns into "electrical dust' as was well stated by one of the guys in the "SIZE matters" feature. And it is all in glorious color (the last 40 seconds that is). The alternative ending extra is just the same ending in black and white, kind of pointless in my opinion but there it is
.

I was really happy to see the flashback scenes from The Amazing Colossal Man in glorious HD. It got me excited for the possibility of a deal with Susan Hart to get that film on blu before I kick the bucket.

So if you are looking forward to this release, I think you will be very pleased, as I am. Once again Shout does a great job that I think will make fans of this film VERY happy.

Fantastic review, Rzzzz! Mine should be coming from Target sometime this century and I can't wait. So glad Shout came through on this. I mean, if they are going to deprive us of cost saving double features for these vintage titles, they at least better come through with a decent transfer. Sounds like they did.

Me too and you know there really isn't anyway to sell a movie like this to anyone who hasn't seen it nor try to justify why we love it so much. It's just one of those things you either get or you don't get.

Thanks to Shout for once more making this double feature come alive!

I may have to pick this one up.

As a result of this thread, I went and broke out my Italian DVD of "The Amazing Colossal Man" today. I bought it several years back on a whim, but never ended up watching it. It was a film I had on 8mm back in the 70's when they were releasing 10 minute versions of movies.

I guess I wasn't sure if the video quality was going to hold up since there never was a formal US release. Actually, the quality of the Italian DVD was pretty decent. There were a few scenes early on that were fairly scratched up, the dupes used for the projected scenes were fairly soft, but the primarily film elements appear to have come from a quality source. I was pleasantly surprised.

There was indeed a formal US DVD release, on a double-bill with EARTH VS THE SPIDER.

I could be wrong, but from what I could see on Amazon that double bill was with "War of the Colossal beast" and not "The Amazing Colossal Man", which is what I was referencing.
