So if you are looking forward to this release, I think you will be very pleased, as I am. Once again Shout does a great job that I think will make fans of this film VERY happy.
Any comments on “How to Make a Monster” blu-ray ?

HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER looks very good for the most part, and the David Del Valle/Courtney Joyner audio commentary is a lot of fun. I haven't gotten to the Tom Weaver commentary or the Herman Cohen featurette, but this disc is great overall.

Correct. AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN is with Susan Nicholson. WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST was the co-feature on the EARTH VS. THE SPIDER DVD.

There might have been a DVD of AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN as part of the Mystery Science Theater series.

The MST version of Amazing Colossal Man was only released to VHS by Rhino and was quickly pulled since didn't have the proper rights to release it.

We may never get The Amazing Colossal Man (sadly) but at least we get the sequel. Not sure why Susan is sitting on the movies she owns. As much as we love them we're in the vast minority so the demand is very low. Why not make something off of them?

As a result of this thread, I went and broke out my Italian DVD of "The Amazing Colossal Man" today. I bought it several years back on a whim, but never ended up watching it. It was a film I had on 8mm back in the 70's when they were releasing 10 minute versions of movies.

I guess I wasn't sure if the video quality was going to hold up since there never was a formal US release. Actually, the quality of the Italian DVD was pretty decent. There were a few scenes early on that were fairly scratched up, the dupes used for the projected scenes were fairly soft, but the primarily film elements appear to have come from a quality source. I was pleasantly surprised.
I have that one too....

I went through a lot of crappy VHS to Dvd converted

until I found that one after some thorough research. I'm not sure what they used for the transfer but it actually looks like a Dvd. As far as I know, this is the best Dvd version available in the the world for The Amazing Colossal Man....

I just watched the MST3K version of War Of The Colossal Beast, and it’s absolutely hysterical. The satellite of love guys were really on their game the day they riffed this film

Oops I’m so sorry, you’re correct of course, my poor brain thought you said the other film.

Thanks to Smithb and you for the alert on this version, which I did not know existed. As I would like to watch both COLOSSAL movies together, I decided to track this one down and pick it up. I'm currently in Europe and found a USED copy on Amazon Germany for 12 Euros ($14) shipped. A little more than I like to pay for a DVD, but I too have my doubts that Susan Hart will ever do anything with her film holdings. I don't suppose there are any extras on this particular Italian release? But it is letterboxed, correct?

I believe there may have been a trailer. Yes, the release is in proper letterbox. The only thing that stood out as being an Italian release is that in a few instance where a sign was show in English an Italian subtitle appeared for translation.

With all the interest in this film, I'm surprised that there is not a thread for "How To Make A Monster". I'm anxious to hear what others think. I have it on pre-order from the recent B2G1 sale from Target.

I watched How To Make A Monster last night. It was a blind buy for me. Somehow I have never seen it. It looks and sounds good as well. I wasn't all that crazy about the film and haven't got into the extras yet. Usually when I blind buy a film and I don't care much for it or feel like I will never watch it again, I trade it in at my local video store. However, I think I will give this one another watch first...

The only extras are a trailer and a stills gallery....

The regular version of the movie did have a VHS release by Columbia along with the other Nicholson horror titles. Most of them anyway.

I've only listened to the David Del Valle/C. Courtney Joyner audio commentry track, which is a lot of fun. In his regular vein, Del Valle has interesting comments about the film's subtext, and both of them offer some amazing nuggets of trivia. A great listen.

I still haven't gotten to Tom Weaver's audio commentary or the Herman Cohen featurette (which runs about 15 minutes).

This isn't one of my favorite films, but the disc is a fine presentation of it.

I should add that the HTMAM disc has a roughly 48 minute questions and answers session with the two Garys, Clarke and Conway that was filmed at Monster Bash, 2017.

Sound quality isn't great, but it's fun overall. The original recording tends to break up toward the end of the running time.
