Just hooked up a Denon 3800 BD to the NAD T-175. Along with the HDMI link, I also used the 7.1 channel analog patch. The back surround channels have been "activated" in the NAD, but I cannot seem to get 7.1 to play back.
What am I missing here? Thanks for all your help, St. Fern |

My test BD was the 7.1 Pan's Lab. No offence taken, I'm sure I'm doing something really stupid and cannot see it because I'm too close. . .

I might be an idiot for saying this, but why are you using both the HDMI and the 7.1 analog cables? Your HDMI should transmit BOTH the audio and video (yes even 7.1 channels). Are you running your audio to 2 separate places? Are you sure you have the audio set to go through the analog cable instead of the HDMI?
Again sorry if I missed something. |

Pan was one of five "problem" BDs released about a year ago when the PS3 got the dts-MA upgrade. I say "problem" because the mixing house flagged the surrounds with a non-standard placement and some decoders reacted by downmixing 7.1 to 5.1. Perhaps that's what's happening with your Denon decoder. I suggest trying a different 7.1 disc (not Hairspray, Shoot 'em Up, or two others that I can't recall off the top of my head that also had the downmixing problem.)

Thanks everyone, When I get home tonight, I will check and make sure the audio pre-sets are in the right place.
I've been looking for an excuse to buy 3:10 to Yuma. I guess this is it! PJ St. Fern PS Zedd-117. The NAD does not encode 7.1 audio. I used the analog by-pass to permit the Denon to work as the processor. Is this the correct approach, or am I going down a blind alley? |

As was posted already I would make sure the NAD is set to Multi-channel if you are using the analogs. |
