What I'm wondering is if you have the Disc version on PS4 and bought the DLCs, do you get everything on the PS5.
Anyway, the biggest part of the upgrade will be the load times which are 3-4 minutes in the open world sections on the Pro. 60 fps will also help a lot. It was so jarring going from 2033 & last Light to Exodus, felt like it was in slow motion. |

I first played this full on Xbox One X.
That ran at 1800p@30fps. 4K/60 gets tossed around like a hot “buzz” word. I’ll wait for DF’s findings. I’ll be shocked if they get this at Native 4K (0 checkerboarding, 0 Dynamic Scaling) at a Locked 60fps with “Full” Ray Tracing. I played a few missions on PS4 Pro. 25% in. That ran 1440p if I recall correctly @ 30fps. So the Native PS5 version should be a huge leap up in visuals & Performance compared to the Pro version. Combat & Enemy AI are really the only core issues with this game. (Also, Slow Loading from either HDD or SSD) Would be nice if they could improve these game mechanics but am not expecting them to. |

It's just a great series from a great developer. I was actually looking forward to seeing what they could do with a new IP but from what I read they might just keep doing more Metro, which wouldn't be the worst thing in the world but the series feels complete to me and I wish they'd branch out. |

Yeah the Metros are really good games. I'd says 1 and 2 together are petty incredible. Exodus is really good too although a bit different from the others with
[Show spoiler] and the open world sections.

![]() I was sort of interested in Exodus but heard is was not quite open world like Fallout 3, 4, NV, which could've been cool competition for Fallout in a way. |

Yeah they definitely look good for PS3/360 upgraded games! Exodus is open world for like 40% of the game. They're pretty large open world sections. Not Days Gone large, but not like the small open worldish sections in Uncharted 4 / Lost Legacy and Last of Us 2.

Same with game installs. Now let's think about this for a moment. You bought a PS5 and you want to install and play a PS4 game that has a PS5 version available. Shouldn't the PS5 just assume the gamer wants to play the better PS5 version and install that one by default? I don't understand why Sony forces the gamer to become a sleuth and go on some weird scavenger hunt to locate and install the PS5 version. It should be the exact opposite. If a PS5 version exists, the system should install THAT version by default. For as amazing as Sonys 1st party game studios are, the team that handles things like OS implementation, UI implementation, and overall quality of life features is seriously lagging behind. They and Sony should look at Xbox's UI and how everything works on that console and be embarrassed because it runs circles around PlayStation. Last edited by Steelmaker; 06-24-2021 at 03:36 PM. |

I don't see how they could handle save transfer at the system level because the save games for the PS5 version could have totally different parameters. At best they could mandate that the developer implement a save file transfer system, like Spider-Man remastered did.

I get why there are issues occasionally with stuff on the PS5 since Sony chose to have each version of a game be treated as if they were completely separate games. It's a pain, but the one plus is the new gen version on disc is a UHD, while every Xbox game is still on Blu-ray discs. If you are still at least mostly a physical copy only person, that's a fairly big deal as you can install a whole game most of the time (minus patches of course), while you have to download a decent portion of most games on Xbox. Like you said, them still not making it really simple to install the correct version of a game is just plain dumb. The game saves issue is annoying, but I at least get it to an extent because of what I said in the above paragraph. The really dumb part is why some PS4 games don't allow you to transfer over the game save when there isn't a PS5 version available. Mass Effect Legendary Edition is the newest one I can think of that doesn't allow you to pick up where you left off if you start it on PS4 and then get a PS5. Unlike what it shows on Xbox, there is no new gen version of the game on PlayStation (and it's not really one on Xbox either despite the case and the system saying otherwise). So, I guess to end this longer than expected post, I actually do think the Series X is the better overall system of the two. That is from design and UI perspective. Obviously Sony still wins out in the games department for now (things could get real interesting in a year or two), and that's what drove me back to getting another PS5 yesterday even though I've highly enjoyed my time with my Series X. I was sick of watching people play Ratchet & Clank and Final Fantasy 7 Remake on their PS5s and me not being able to since I sold mine. |
