Tarantino Archives -- Potential new line coming from Sony

Once again, I think he can't stump me and yet again here I am with another title I have never heard of. This looks good, I love the whole idea of him presenting as many movies as he wants from the Columbia vault as possible.

He did one with RR for From Dusk till Dawn, as well. It was on the special edition laserdisc and then ported over to the Dimension Series DVD edition that came with Full Tilt Boogie.

That's always surprised me, as QT's three biggest loves seem to be a) cinema, b) cocaine, and c) listening to himself talk. That's the perfect recipe for an interesting commentary (just ask Abel Ferrara).

Tarantino also did commentaries for both Hostel films, Daltry Calhoun and probably a half dozen other movies that haven't been mentioned yet. He obviously likes doing commentaries just not for films he directs. On the From Dusk Till Dawn commentary he said he always intended to do ones for Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction but never did because he couldn't bring himself to watch them one more time. I'm guessing it just kind of became a tradition after that.

I don't know but he strikes me as maybe not having much interest in 4k scans, preferring the more rougher look for his films considering his background with movies in his personal life. I couldn't imagine someone with his weight in his name it wouldn't have been done already if he wanted it done.

That said I'd love 4k scans of his movies reworked. I don't even care if they are uhd or not.

He’s such a Luddite that he has said he’s rather watch a VHS than a stream/Blu-Ray (provided a print could not be procured, of course)

He has no problem at all with commentary tracks, he just doesn't want them on the movies he directs. The same way he is fond of documentaries about filmmaking but is very cautious about behind the scenes stuff on his own films. I don't think he wants people peeking behind the curtain on his own stuff, he wants to retain some mystique.

I've been listening to him on some podcasts lately and he seems to have embraced streaming services to some extent. He talks a lot about watching old Kung Fu and B movies uploaded illegally on YouTube.
