Fight Night Round 3 I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. The PS3 version is a rush job port of the Xbox 360 version. Ugly with a capital U.

Actually the ps3 version of fight night was graphicly slightly better than the xbox version.

Sweat looks more realistic and the lighting was better. i have played the 360 version, and over all the ps3 version is an improvement. and you can hardly call it ugly, when looking close up at the characters the skin and face expressions are amazing!

Yep, Motorstorm came with the PS3 box here in Europe ... nice one, in fact the intro movie looks better than any of the BD movies I got so far (as far as HD-show-off is concerned!)

What do you mean with max eye candy? Really good looking or heavy on special effects?

Resistance, Ninja Gaiden and Motorstorm are the best so far but are still woefully behind what the PS3 is capable of (if you understand Cell, you will know what I mean regardless of the 'lighter' gpu in the PS3).

Heavenly Sword should be pretty impressive though I'm betting it will be Spring '08 before we really start to see some titles showing up that are significant for the PS3. There are many good exclusive (non-port) titles coming that are not even publicly known yet in 2008 and early 2009 I'm sure that will finally begin to tap the Cell. It will take a 3-5 year development cycle to fully explore it.

When comparing Xbox360 and PS3 people often forget a few key things in sales figures. One being 'replaced units'. These actually count as a 'shipped unit' so if sales figures of 12 million, or whatever, Xbox360's are 'shipped units' then you have to discount that by 33% to account for the failure rate for actual units in the market.

By contrast there are well over 120 million PS2's in the market. The PS2 is _still_ the top selling console (Wii is right there too). Sony has not abandoned the PS2 yet and neither have developers. When the games stop being developed for PS2, the PS3 will sell like hotcakes. No consumer with a brain is going to give up a library of PS2 games to change to an Xbox360 (just as old Xbox owners would give up their libraries they invested in). Also, most people don't want several consoles laying around the living room.

It's a matter of time. I suspect this is the last holiday the PS2 will see any serious support. 2008 will begin the time of the PS3. Just watch.

Note sure why I wrote all of that here, but it seemed right when I started. Sorry if I derailed a little.

I agree with what you're saying about the cell for the ps3. I don't believe that it's difficult to develop for the ps3. I don't know anything about programming. I think that with the ps3 hardware, there's more then meets the eye, but the ps3 has come a long way since launch day and we're starting to see really good games take advantage of the hardware like you said. You think that after this year, we won't be seeing anymore ps2 games? It'll just end? With the cell cpu, I think it's more of a question as what can be done with the cell? No one has fully explored the cell 100%? I heard that some developers knew about 40% of the cell, a little less then half. How is everything doing with the RSX chip? because that is the other half of the ps3, not counting the hard drive present.

Also note, Resistance Fall of Man is one of the few native 7.1 tracks out there. I don't even own a movie with 7.1 one on it.

For a launch game, I'd say Ridge Racer 7. I thought that of all of the first-gen launch games for the PS3, Ridge Racer 7 was the best showcase of it (even more than Motorstorm or Resistance: FOM). Then next would be Gran Turismo HD which is no doubt beautiful in graphics and stuff like that...............plus it's a free download

For current games (within the year):
-Warhawk
-Haze (Ubisoft's exclusive FPS for the console)
-Gran Turismo 5: Prologue (enhanced graphics over GT:HD)

For next year:
-Final Fantasy 13 (the first game to use Square Enix White Engine)
-Gran Turismo 5
-Metal Gear Solid next-gen

Pretty much all of it

For great visual pleasure :
- Folklore : varied environments, rich character and monster design
- Clive Barker's Jericho : creepy and frightening monsters, use of flashlights ...
- Unreal tournament 3 : lots of explosions, original weapons, vehicles ...
- Drake's fortune : Tomb raider like with incredible animation, lush natural environment

Lair is very pretty and if you've got the set up the landscapes are awesome. I'm also waiting for Unreal, it looks....Unreal. Warhammer Online will look fan freakintastic when it's released for the PS3 and can take advantage of an HD setup. I just hope they make it with 1080p support.

Having just finished the awesome demo for Stranglehold, that will be a game with some good eye candy. Not so much graphically... well... I guess... I mean, everything still looks video gamey, but the effects and style... WOW.

Plenty of detail in that game, even if it's not always the sharpest.
