Default MCU now pushing 3D

Guess Cameron's AVATAR 2 3D gave them a push.

Thanks for the article film11. With possible future investment in 3D releases maybe we will see this rollover to Blu-ray.... A renewed interest in 3D television is too much to hope for but who knows?

Hope this "glimpse of a hope" will end in new 3D TVs by LG, Panasonic & Sony in 2023.

I'm pretty sure a lot of 3d discs and Disney 3d streaming would follow.

Didn't want to bring it up, but remember that LG rep on social media who kept replying "Stay tuned"? But who knows. I'll be happy with a BD 3D release of DR STRANGE 2 that's not $80-$100 from Japan.

CinemaCon announcements obviously is for Cinema only, so lets not get ahead of ourselves here. 3D at home is still "dead" and buried in the eyes of the home TV market and big manufacturers

At this point I'd be happy with an overpriced BD 3D from Japan

Yeah, maybe Feige is just jumping on the Avatar 2 train to go with its momentum hype.

If anything Avengers Endgame could have been the moment that manufacturers could catch with 3D new equipments but they did nothing. Worst, just months earlier they, Disney and Marvel, stepped out from several countries with 3D and removed most dubbings/subtitles on their movies.

Feet on the ground people.

I think this is very good news for Marvel 3D. So "Guardians of the Galaxy 3" & "Antman 3" should be completed in 3D. Someone deleted the 3D mention in our database a while ago...

Endgame was hardly at the 3D level of Avatar. Endgame was a conversion, Avatar is not. Endgame directors didn't even consider framing shots for 3D or even think of 3D as a factor at all. Avatar does.

Is that really the point?

3D on Endgame is great, on disc it just lacks the Imax footage like Infinity War and it's the biggest box office of all time.

Being native or not here isn't the issue. The issue is the oportunity that they could take to sell more 3D hardware and discs for people who wanted it all over the world.

I feel bad that you don't like Endgame's 3D, because the movie not only is a compelling story and the culminate of a saga that i believe will take ages to be surpassed and the 3D in it just works great.

Like i said, Feige is just jumping on of the Avatar 2 train to bring back fans to the theaters in the US maybe thinking that people over there just forgot about 3D and when people are asked about Avatar people don't remember about the movie but always remember 3D.

To compare Avatar to a movie with ZERO thought given to the fact it would be on 3D just because it's a nice conversion is ludicrous. DR STRANGE 2 is also a conversion but Raime has worked in 3D before and has stated he designed shots to take advantage of 3D. It will be no comparison to Endgame

It was the biggest box office of all time. Avatar has taken the top spot back.

Another one missing the real point.

But ok. Avatar is the biggest box office! On how many reruns? How many years that needed to be made?

So Avatar is the new Gone With The Wind(25 years to make the biggest box office of all time with currency correction), kudos for that.

And make no mistake, Disney will milk that cow as many times it will need to make Avatar a milestone while it needs.

The local imax theater is doing a single show a day of Dr Strange 2 in 3D, which is pretty major as imax was trying to phase out 3D showings from what I have been able to find. I'm planning to go this Thursday

As of 2016, 3D displays are no longer produced. It is not feasible to release something that only works with 2010-2015 displays. Manufacturers have been there and done that. Even if they were still produced, Blu-ray 3D only supports up to 1080p. Ultra HD Blu-ray does not support 3D MVC video.

3D TVs aren't the only way to watch 3D movies though. 3D projectors are still made in 2022 and VR headsets, while not officially supported by any blu-ray players as far as I know, have proven to be not only the superior way to watch 3D content, but also is the most accessible 3D displays have ever been. Apps like Bigscreen have rekindled interest in 3D movies and I feel the future for 3D home media is looking bright.
