Kindle 2 or iphone3g for ereader?

Hi all,
I need some input from members.
I want to buy an ereader and am considering either the kindle2 or iphone3g.
Are any of you using either/both and what are your suggestions and/or comments.
I like the idea of the kindle2 but it is pricey and I really only want the reader/synch part of it...no need for the other frippery.
I like the idea of the iphone3g...not the 3gs...because it would be a single unit replacing my cellphone, ipod nano4g/16gb and the book I usually lug around with me...I have the luxury of reading at work. I seldom use a cell phone but it is a handy bugger. I have a basic plan with att and have 2500 rollover minutes lol so actual use is small. I do not want or need the data plan...$30 monthly yipes...but the salesman at BB told me I can use my current simm card with my plan and it would work fine but no internet unless I am in a wifi hotspot...no biggy for me. I just figure it would make a nice reader and work as a cell phone and ipod...all in one.

I have an iPhone. It would not be my first choice for reading books. Not unless you prefer to go blind. I don't think its a device made for reading books on a consistent basis. Every now and then - perhaps. Regularly - no.
