Default Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - The Official Thread of Quidditch is Back!!!!

Story:

Read the f'ing book!
[Show spoiler]Emboldened by the return of Lord Voldemort, the Death Eaters are wreaking havoc in both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that new dangers may lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. He needs Harry to help him uncover a vital key to unlocking Voldemort's defenses critical information known only to Hogwarts' former Potions Professor, Horace Slughorn. With that in mind, Dumbledore manipulates his old colleague into returning to his previous post with promises of more money, a bigger office and the chance to teach the famous Harry Potter.

Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry's long friendship with Ginny Weasley is growing into something deeper, but standing in the way is Ginny's boyfriend, Dean Thomas, not to mention her big brother Ron. But Ron's got romantic entanglements of his own to worry about, with Lavender Brown lavishing her affections on him, leaving Hermione simmering with jealousy yet determined not to show her feelings. And then a box of love potion-laced chocolates ends up in the wrong hands and changes everything. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof with far more important matters on his mind. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.

I don't expect the 100% rating on RT to remain, but it is encouraging to see both the trades give it high marks.

Me too, but let's hope it'll stay in between 90-100% in Rotten Tomatoes. All the hype for this movie will surely pay for it.

This was my favorite book too, I was a little worried about some of the review that came out of much earlier screenings though. Glad it's looking better now though. Can't wait until Tuesday night!

LOL! Harry looks taller than Ron in that pic while in reality Rupert is taller than Daniel.

Anyway, looking forward to watching it.

Best review I have seen so far has been the thought that the movie plays out more like a Thriller then a Childrens Story, very encouraging; Only problem is the review came from IGN, never the less, I will see this in 3 weeks when it hits IMAX as the IMAX release will be 2 weeks after the 15th

Any of you guys remember the whole spoiler craze when the book came out? People all over were giving away the ending in a mass reveal of one of the final chapters. It pissed me off... But luckily I had already read the book before someone tried pulling it on me.

I'm dragging my wife to see this. I've tried to get her into it... But she just doesn't like this kind of stuff.

Trailers look promising, loved the book. I'm trying not to expect too much because I hate being disappointed.

I always expect WAY too much from a Potter film. I've probably been disappointed with every single one, except for Prisoner of Azkaban which had a unique flavor to it. The last two films were solid... But nothing special like the books themselves. Perhaps I just kept comparing it to the LotR films and how well they mirrored the books.

It would be hilarious if they changed that for the movie.

I've always thought the movies sucked compared to the books as well. I was really disappointed with the amount that was cut out of Order of the Phoenix.

I read the book silly .

JamesKurtovich. Goblet of Fire was mostly solid. Order of the Phoenix I don't know about... Luna was refreshing but overall it's just eh.

I think my disappointment stems from the amount of depth lacking in the films. Fans of only the films have absolutely no idea how rich the world of Potter is in the novels. When I read a Potter book, I feel completely involved in their universe and I believe it is because you go way deep into it. The movies scratches the surface only. A portion you spent a good chunk of time reading and made you felt like you were side by side with The Boy Who Lived goes by in 2 seconds on the big screen.

OotP was extremely rushed. One of the most emotional chapters was skimmed over in under a minute (Harry seeing Snape at Hogwarts being tormented by his father and friends), and imo, completely robbing it of its importance and impact on how Harry sees Snape from that point on.

I agree. I do occasionally go back and read the book over after I've seen one of the movies to see what was left out. If the movies tried to be as in depth as the books they would probably be somewhere between 5-8 hours. Most people don't have attention spans that last through 2 hours as it is.
