MGM Home Entertainment has announced the Hannibal Lector Anthology for the 15th September. The 3-disc set will include Manhunter, The Silence of the Lambs, and Hannibal, and will retail at around $69.99. Each of the films will be presented in widescreen format with English 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio. Right now we have no details on any extra material, but we'll let you know if we hear anything. Stay tuned. For now though, here's our first look at the official package artwork:

I hated "Hannibal." I already got "Silence of the Lambs," which is still a favorite of mine. And I haven't seen "Manhunter" yet (I think I'm going to have to rent it; everybody seems to like it). So, I will pass on this set.
Still sounds cool for fans of the series. But surely, they got to put out a set with "Red Dragon" and "Hannibal Rising" in it some day! |

How so?
Though RED DRAGON was a Universal film, I have to imagine that MGM can lay some claim to it. The exclusion of RED DRAGON is understandable, but HANNIBAL RISING was for sure an MGM film. I'll wait until RED DRAGON is in a set (if that ever happens). Last edited by Jack Wade; 07-22-2009 at 04:40 PM. |

Hannibal Rising is a Weinstein Company home video release, and again is not controlled by MGM. MGM sold the video rights to them as part of their co-distribution deal. Last edited by benricci; 07-22-2009 at 04:55 PM. |

Again, they were co-distributors with Weinstein for the theatrical run, but have no stake in the home video release. That's controlled by The Weinstein Company. I don't know how much more clearly I can phrase it. These films won't be in an MGM box set any time soon. |
