Australia Watchmen/PS3

has anyone else tried to run the local release of watchmen on their playstation 3 iv'e tried two copies and when the disc loads stays at the menu my playstation 3 gets quite loud like its struggling to read the disc but it seems to run alright when the movie is running.

iv'e tried a few other discs in my player and none of them make this noise.

anyone else have this happen?

i watched the whole disc last night after work and the noise lasted for about 5-10 mins into the film then stopped then returned again for the last 5 mins of the feature.

yeah pretty much what happened with mine, didn't come back at the end though. Maybe the PS3's need a software/firmware update?

I rented the theatrical version after watching the directors cut and watched it on my ps3 with absolutely no problems. Thought I should add I'm in Aus using a 80gb ps3, so maybe check mto ensure everything is up to date, otherwise maybe there is just a bad batch of discs out there or something similar.

So do you prefer the Director's Cut or the Theatrical Cut Suntory Times?

Would you recommend the DC to a person who didn't flat out love the TC?

I prefer the directors cut, it plays out at a slightly slower pace and would recommend the DC over the TC. However I liked both, but if you didn't love the TC the directors cut probably wont change your mind (it's significantly differenct compared to most directors cuts, but not the same extent as some such as the Kingdom of Heaven directors cut).

Im in Aust also and am having the same issue with WATCHMEN disc 1. Disc 2 works fine and so do all other blu-rays I own. Have gone through 2 copies also and seems to make that damaging sounding noise like it is having trouble loading, however it loads fine......... I hope there is an update or something that can fix this, otherwise Ill be getting rid of my local version all together and just keeping the DC.
