Watchmen Arriving Also As Movie/PS3 Game Combo
Posted May 21, 2009 02:19 PM by Juan Calonge

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that its upcoming PS3 game 'Watchmen: The End is Nigh', based on the 'Watchmen' film, will be released in July 2009 in a game/film hybrid that will include the 'Watchmen: Director's Cut' BD. This two-disc collectible set will feature exclusive artwork in a premium package.

The game will also be released in the more traditional retail and downloadable formats.

'Watchmen: The End is Nigh' is a hardcore mature action brawler featuring bloody visceral combat in settings which are reminiscent of the film. It is divided in two parts. Part 1 (released in March 2009 on the PlayStation Network) takes place more than a decade before the film's main story, delving into the partnership of urban vigilantes Rorschach and Nite Owl before the hero-banning Keene Act. In Part 2, the duo team up again as Rorschach contacts Nite Owl to help solve the case of a missing girl, Violet Greene.

Sweet! I can't wait to try out The End Is Nigh!

Looks like Warner Bros are trying to take this up to a whole 'nother level. I enjoyed the original graphic novel, enjoyed the movie, and now they're all coming in one package! (Well, the movie and game, not the graphic novel )

Thanks, Shin-Ra!

So wait, is it the movie on one disc and the game on the other? I hope so, putting a 3 hour movie on a single layer BD wouldn't be a great idea...

Watchmen has separate discs.

But when they do use one BD (Resident Evil 5 Japanese version is supposed to be a hybrid with video playable in any player) I doubt they have to split the two content types to different layers. It's like some BD movies have the custom XMB graphic that as far as I know, no other player uses so it's just ignored without breaking compatibility.

So apparently this released today.

Quote:
Watchmen: The End is Nigh The Complete Experience is a distinct, retail Blu-ray Hi-Def game and film hybrid which will include the Watchmen: The End is Nigh Parts 1 and 2 video game and the Watchmen: Director’s Cut on Blu-ray. This two-disc collectible set of the action-packed blockbuster includes an additional 25 minutes of footage not seen in theaters and exclusive artwork in a premium collector’s package. Both the game and Blu-ray disc are playable on the PLAYSTATION®3 entertainment system. Watchmen: The End is Nigh The Complete Experience launches today for a retail price of $49.99.

Is the packaging distinctive as a game/movie combo in any other way?

Question:

So this comes with most of what the blu-ray only set comes with except some extra features right? But this set is about $30 more than the bluray. Do the two games combined cost more than $30 on the psn?

I went to Best Buy yesterday and didn't see this with all of the other Watchmen stuff on display. You would think it would be.
