Default Concorde Silent Hill vs Sony Silent Hill

I have been interested in purchasing Silent Hill. I have read that the German Concorde release was better than the Sony release here in the states. I was curious about 2 things:
1. Is the PQ better for the German release?
2. Is the Concorde release region free?

Thanks in Advance!

If its a german release it will mostlikely be in PAL, so make sure that you can play it! Pal usually has better quality as it is encoded at a higher MGHz rate than NTSC...

There's no PAL/NTSC on HD media both are 1080p, both are 24fps

1. The german Silent Hill is encoded in VC-1, the US in MPEG2. The picture quality is slightly better on the german version, but still inconsistent because of the dark scenes and low lighting.
The audio on the concorde disc is DTS Master Audio for the german track, only DTS HD for the english track.
2. Yes, the concorde discs are region free.

I appreciate your quick response. I think I'll order the German version then (will probably wait until someone confirms 12 Monkeys region status).

Again Thanks alot!

It's one of THE greatest things about Blu-ray. Movies are 24p wherever they come from. I have Blu-ray releases from Hong Kong and the UK. And it looks like Germany, and Scandinavian are other possible sources for titles that get around the Blu-ray embargo or expand one's horizons.

Most likely Amazon.de. Unless they don't ship to the US, which in that case, I will have to search around.

That's a problem, cause there is actually no "real" service or site where you can look up if a specific region B version is running on a region A player (at least i don't know such site). Actually more people with region B players are asking if region A releases are working with their system In Europe the HD movies are still a niche and very few people have a region A player down there and it's quite risky to order such a title from region B, since the euro prices are extremely high and you would be quite annoyed if your import is not working. But there are some peole who have region A players and are testing the region B releases and they will report in forums like this if something is region free or not
