But yeah, even with that said, what I want most out of the sequel is for the original to be issued on 4K.
To me it looks like a set of jangly keys from an industry running out of ideas and money and driving their artists into the ground stringing it all together! Alien has more in common with the original than new-sequel to be frank. Going by the trailer it's completely aestheticless and moodless. Not a fan. Will keep saying it because it needs to be said!

On the whole "movie dumb" talk, that's too high-internet-intelligentsia woowoo for me. Alien and Twister are high art! That's the way it is!

But anyway, yeah! Bring on that Twister 4k!

It looks like there's a huge vacuum of personality at its core.

The original had an abundance of character actors. But instead of Bill Paxton, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Alan Ruck, Cary Elwes etc we've got.... that guy with the chiselled jaw from that thing. That girl - she looks kinda attractive, right? That, um, other guy.

That's exactly my point! Take Twister and remove the character actors interacting with very bad weather, remove the direction and aesthetic of said very bad weather, and you get jangly keys for the crowd who put down anything not aiming to be ~literary art~ as stupid/idiotic/etc. People can say what they want about Twister being "thin" or whatever all day but they're clearly looking at it from an obtuse angle. It's essentially an aesthetic film, the art of tornadoes being terrifying. They're the most convincing, spooky tornadoes on screen since Wizard of Oz; that's more of dare-I-say an "art film" akin to Alien. Remove the art from it and you are left with a string of scenes involving people running from CGI tornadoes, and the attempt to put the original on the same plane is funny.

Twister certainly created a generation of metereologists. No kidding, it’s not hard to find reports of metereologists saying that Twister was key in shaping their love for metereology.

As stupid as this movie is, I’d upgrade it in a heartbeat to 4K with Atmos. It’s in seriously dire need of an upgrade.

This might be the official “crap Blu-ray, absent on 4K” movie of our community now. The 30th anniversary is two years away, and we’re still working off of two awful Blu-rays from 20 years ago.

I thought I read somewhere Twister is getting a 4K UHD release this summer to coincide with the sequel, Twisters releasing in theaters July 19th.

It's been expected, but nothing official has been announced about it as of yet.

The 4K restoration was completed at MPI last fall.

You can’t exactly read Mad Magazine by it, but in a pitch black room it’s better than I expected…

If anything, the effect is probably more impressive in the photo than in person!😀
