Question Twister Blu-ray

Well, I know the DVD wasn't fantastically good looking but sounded pretty good. How much better do you guys expect it to be on Blu-ray?

As good if not better than the theatrical presentation. PQ just above average. Not reference PQ, but the SQ should be exquisite!

I really wish this movie didn't have Helen Hunt in it. I liked the movie but she is just worthless to watch onscreen imo. It's a good thing Castaway's best part are without her in them.

Sold as far as I'm concerned. We need a good transfer of this baby.

Hope Warner does a great job on this one. I have sold my dvd copy and would hate to buy if Warner half hearts it. The sound should be great. The pq on the dvd wasn't very good.

This could be a great release if Warner gives it their best attention.

Hopefully it will be mastered to take full advantage of BD's 50 gig capacity. I also hope it was not already mastered at lower specs with HD-DVD distribution in mind. Now that we're all-Blu all the time WB should step up to the plate and hit a home run.

Twister on Blu-ray must get a an F-5 rating!

Yeah, I agree. The PQ on the DVD wasn't that good. I think the THX remaster on VHS looked better. The SQ was excellent though. Twister was and has always been one of my favorite movies. I'm sure the Blu-ray version will look much better. If you look at Halloween on Blu-ray, you can tell it was beautifully transferred.

I doubt WB will have separate video encodes for the BD and HD versions of Twister. Both will likely be VC-1 at a low enough bit rate to fit into HD-DVD's limits. Hopefully the BD version will at least have a Dolby TrueHD track or PCM 5.1.

ID4 was probably the title I wanted the most in hi-def but Twister is not far behind. I'm really hoping that they spent a lot of time making it look/sound the best that it can. I wish it would have been released after the HD DVD deadline though. Probably more of a chance that it would be optimized for blu-ray.

That's if WB proceeds to release the HD-DVD version. Ha!

I really want Twister to blow me away!

Yeah, I'm hoping it looks good too. I was disappointed with the DVD as well. I hope a review comes out in time for me to cancel my order in case it sucks.

Default This is not off to a good start.

I searched this site and found this info on twister: Video codec: VC-1

This is not off to a good start. I hope this is not true.

I'll pick this title up if it's done right: TrueHD or PCM. For some reason I don't think the video quality will be great - just pretty good. I'm not sure if the source material of this movie is really going to be sharp/eye candy.

VC-1 isn't bad at all. Look at 3:10 to Yuma...

Who would you prefer, Rosie O'Donnel?
