Big Elvis fan here but I couldnt care less about this movie as its one of the worst if not the worst
Shame that Loving You still isnt available on bluray or HD streaming instead we get poor ones like this.
Also a shame that Warner doesnt own the LY rights.

Does any insider know if this one will actually be released on July 30th or will there be a delay? There seems to be a lot of delays now with Warner Archives. And I haven't seen a pre-order listing for this yet either.

Loving You was being prepped for Blu-Ray release on the Twilight Time label but was stopped. Allegedly for music clearance issues but I have no official source for that so it could have been for another reason.

It was for music clearance issues.
When that happens the chance for a release anytime soon is close to zero.
No idea why this movie is a huge problem and not the other ones.

Not doubting you, but do you have an official source for that? Ive seen many speculate that’s the reason - and it certainly could be - but not seen any statement from the studio nor any rights holders.

That reason has often been cited, but I have not seen an official studio announcement to that effect. It certainly sounds credible.

Someone over at a messageboard….probably FECC…emailed the company that was working on the release of Loving You and their respond was that the bluray release was cancelled due music clearance issues.
The whole respond was shared on the messageboard.
Sadly its not the first time song clearance issues have occured……many of us remember the first release of Aloha and the 68 Comeback on DVD in 2000
Same with TTWII-SE.

Only 6 days until "Harum Scarum" (maybe more for shipping times). Hoping there is more Elvis on the horizon for BD. I watched "Girl Happy" recently. What a fun movie! The DVD actually looked fantastic. While not BD, it still looked absolutely polished. Wish the Paramount films looked that good on DVD. I also watch "Girls Girls Girls" (a fave of mine) and it looked pretty poor on DVD. Really wish Paramount would do some BD gift-set, even if it's done in volumes. I'd love to get a chunk of those movies. At this rate, we'll never get those on BD completed.

Agreed -- I just recently watched Roustabout, and I really enjoyed it, which makes it all the more unfortunate that the HD streaming version seems to be upscaled. Fingers crossed that one gets an upgrade at some point!

Ahh, I didn't know that. I don't use streaming but I know there are HD versions of the Paramount films. Didn't know they were just upscales. That's very unfortunate. I thought real HD masters were finally struck and just awaiting BD releases at some point.

There will be more Elvis blu-rays coming from Warner Archive. During the May 30 episode of The Extras podcast, George Feltenstein discussed Harum Scarum and said "there will be more":
https://www.theextras.tv/podcasts/bl...annjuly-053024 (go to 14:55)

Warner owns 17 Elvis movies:
Released on blu-ray by Warner Archive:
  • Double Trouble
  • Harum Scarum
  • It Happened At The World's Fair
  • Spinout
Released on blu-ray by Warner Home Video:
  • Jailhouse Rock
  • Elvis On Tour
  • Elvis: That's The Way It Is (later re-released by Warner Archive)
  • Viva Las Vegas
Available in HD digitally:
  • Charro!
  • Girl Happy
  • Kissin' Cousins
  • Live A Little, Love A Little
  • Speedway
  • Stay Away, Joe
  • This Is Elvis
  • Tickle Me
  • The Trouble With Girls
Future Warner Archive releases will probably come from the third group of movies above. One or more movies in the second group of movies above will probably get a 4K UHD release by Warner Home Video at some point in the future.

Regarding the Paramount movies, I think it's just a matter of time before Paramount releases a 4K UHD of King Creole.

Yeah, I knew all those. I have all the ones that have been released. I'd prefer that Paramount choose a new film altogether. I have King Creole on BD and it's good enough. I'd prefer they pick one of the films that hasn't received any attention yet, preferably "G.I. Blues" or "Girls Girls Girls".

With regards to WA, "Girl Happy" or "Speedway" would be the best to choose from for their next release.

They aren't upscales across the board. Girls! Girls! Girls! and GI Blues for example are proper HD and look quite nice. Roustabout just seems to have been unlucky for whatever reason

Maybe that's a sign that Girls! Girls! Girls! and G.I. Blues are prepped and can be released on disc hopefully in the near future. I wish they would do "release waves" like they used to do in VHS days. Release 2 or 3 in one batch and then release more later. I know physical media isn't as lucrative anymore but man, I miss those days. I remember when all the Elvis movies came out on VHS and the stores had displays and they were selling out.

I'm just spot-checking my copy now. The color looks fantastic, much more vivid than my recollections of seeing the film first-run in a theater.
