Who else hates it when people say the next format will be called Green-ray?

I just hate it when people are mocking Blu-ray and say something like "so whats the next format gonna be called? 'Green-ray' hahaha". God I hate it! It is such a bad joke that every time a different person says it they think they are original. They think it's called Blu-ray because it is named after the primary colours. Next time I am going to say "Why don't you stick with your 'Red-rays' aka DVD's".

End of minor rant!

It's annoying because it is such a bad attempt at mocking the name of the format. Especially since the format has a perfectly good reason for having it's name and isn't just trying to be flashy and "cool".

I see what you mean, I just would not get all rise up for it, I usualy let stupid comments from wannabe comedians trying to make fun of me slip by me. Specialy since in many cases these wannabe comedians can't tell the difference between a BD, DVD or VHS anyway.

To be fair, it is trying to be "cool" a little bit. If it was "Blue Ray", I'd agree, but since it's "Blu-ray", all-one-word, I can't agree with you.

And how about the people who say the next format will be holographic disc? I hate that even more because those are people who actually think they know what's going on but simply have no idea.

Yeah, it is trying to be cool a little bit. On top of that, there are certain people on this forum who get irritated when someone misspells the term "Blu-ray," which isn't any better.

But bad jokes are bad jokes no matter what, so being smart alecky and saying something like "what's next — green ray? hahaha" is pretty lame. I would probably get irritated if I heard it all the time.

My youngest son (almost three years old) always says "I wan't to watch Blu-ray. I don't want to watch red ray." He says that when he's talking about wanting to watch a Blu instead of a DVD. Hilarious!
