Fiancée and I took turns waiting to pay full price at the midnight release, and even turned down a $2,000 offer for our (#2 out of only 12 available units) spot in line. Neither of us has regretted it for a second. I see it this way: we've been able to enjoy our PS3 2 years, 9 months and 8 days longer than people that bought the slim yesterday for $300 less. That works out to $0.30 per day of PS3 awesomeness, PLUS I have backwards compatibility, SACD playback, 2 extra USB ports and a memory card reader. It was worth every penny!

PS: We just bought 2 slims tonight! 1 for the bedroom and 1 for my niece & nephews! I've been wanting to get them one for a loooong time. Even though I don't regret buying our 60 gig on day 1, I still appreciate the price drop.

You're welcome!

PS3 games, PS2 games, PS1 games, SACDs, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, Memory Sticks, SD cards, it handles them all flawlessly.

You'd have to pry my launch PS3 out of my cold, dead fingers.

Bought a 20GB in launch week for $500... upgraded the hdd about 6 months later to 250GB. Using it every day! No regrets at all!
In the same time span (early 2006 to end of 2007) I also bought a 360 and a Wii. Sold the 360 mid last year and my ex-wife took the Wii with her in Feb. Holding on to the PS3 though!!

I think a great deal of people out there realize that you pay more for cutting edge tech and there is a certain cost to such a thing. In the case of my $600 60GB PS3, it was such a HUGE VALUE! When looking at all the features, I was EXTREMELY grateful something like that existed at that price point!

Also, I've enjoyed over 2.5 years of the PS3's capabilities. The people that are buying the PS3 Slim at $299 haven't had the pleasure of the type of functionality, yet. However, new PS3 Slim owners are in the SAME boat as we launch PS3 owners all over again.

How could anyone regret getting a PS3 almost 3 years ago? It just means you have had 3 years of great gaming and blu-ray watching. In 3 more years when the PS3 is $120 will those that pay $300 now regret it? Of course not.
Cool...what store let you get 2? The gs near me only got 16 on day 1 and said they were limiting 1 per house hold. I was planning on 2.

If I remember right Gamestop's policy is not to sell 2 consoles in same transaction but as for the PS3 slim with 1 per household I have no idea since I haven't been in there since the PS3 slim has come out but it's definitely possible.

The $600 price of admission was well worth it to me. I've been enjoying Blu's ever since and I've picked up the occasional awesome game that comes every so often. I'm playing Killzone 2 while waiting for Uncharted 2 right now.

My only regret was that I didn't preorder mine earlier to guarantee a launch PS3. I had to wait a month or two to snag one for $600.

It's arguably the best $600 I've ever spent, though.

No regrets at all, and being Swedish, I payed the equivilent of $920 for my launch 60GB (at the times currency exchange price). One of my best purchases ever.

when I purchased the $600 PS3....I knew it would one day be this price and I even thought it would have hit $299 around 2008 Holidays....

it's the nature of technology....if you want to be an early adopter, expect to pay the premium..
