Hi all
Quick question. Who has the better return policy outside Costco. Costco won't be carrying the new "slims" for at least a month, possibly more (I should know....I work at their corp office). Fred's and Target have a crappy return policy. After a few months if the machine goes tits up....you have to send it to the manufacturer. Fry's....I'm not so sure. I've heard they will let you exchange it as long as you have a receipt and all the componets are there (can anyone confirm that?) Basically....I have little to no patience ![]() So....anyone know what store(s) have decent exxhange polocies? Thanks!! |

I'd like to know what the return policy @ Amazon.com and Costco's are.
Costco used to have that thing where you had FOREVER. A friend of mine's son works @ Costco and they used to have people bring a TV in after years and just say "I wanna return this" and they'd get store credit or whatever. Now I heard they cut that back and it's 90 days or something like that. |

Wait 2 months and buy it with an open return policy or buy it from another retailer hoping the unit doesn't break down. |

Nice to meet you Acctingman! I also work at Costco, but in Canada. We have a different buying office, so I'll have to check on when the PS3 Slim is coming our way. So far (reading the dept newsletters...nothing).

Walmart has a pretty good one. You have 90 days on game consoles to do a return. You can exchange or return within that period. Just make sure everything you buy gets returned because they have to check serial numbers. Also, after the 90 days, the one year manufacturer's warranty then kicks in. If you decide to get the extended warranty for 2 years, it kicks in after the one year warranty. The extended warranty at Best Buy starts the day you buy it so it overlaps with the manufacturer's warranty.

If it is just your store deviating from the official policy, are they making it clear to all customers? If the official policy has changed they have not updated the verbiage on their website. |

I don't think they would change it for one store. Around May my friends 60 gig crapped out and he didn't have the cash for another one. He had purchased it at Costco so I told him about the return policy, he said he didn't even have the receipt. I told him as long as he still had the same membership they could look it up for him. So we lugged everything down there and got denied at customer service.
I double checked with him to make sure but he says it definitely was more than 2 weeks I stated above but less than 90 days, he thinks it was 30 days for game consoles. |

Buy your ps3 or Xbox elite @ best buy...I dunno how they keep doing this without losing money but you can get one...play it everyday and take it back before 30 days and get a full refund no questions asked. You can just do it over and over...I don't get it...why even buy a system hahahaha (i'm kidding).
If you use cash and you spend anything over i think 2 or 250 you get a check in 10 days...so just use your credit card or pay half of it...so if you dont like it you get your cash back and your money back on your credit card right there....But yea best buy has the "BEST" refund policy IMO. |

Costco's in Canada might be a little more anal when it comes to non-90 day electronics, but US Costco's are not, but....
With the hard economic times, more and more Costco is making sure it's members are returning things for legit reasons. If a member whines enough though, they will get what they want, for the most part. |

I bought a PS3 Slim at Fry's and had to return it for exchagne because the optical drive would not read discs. This happend after one week of use.
The second unit is still working fine. Fry's has a thirty day return policy in California. They are online but I was doing business with a local Fry's walk in store. |
