Easy. Sub out on you're AVR to the "yellow" LFE input on the sub. Or use a y-adapter to the "red and white" RCA in.

I tried that before, and nothing happened.

What kind of cable do I need?

Use a RG6/U 75ohm RCA cable. What cable did you use?

  1. Use an RG6 sub cable with RCA connectors at both ends.
  2. Connect one end of the cable to the sub output (LFE output) on the back of the receiver.
  3. Connect the other end of the sub cable to the LFE input on the back of the subwoofer.
  4. Turn the level on the back of the subwoofer to 50%-60%.
  5. Place the subwoofer up front in a corner about a foot away from the walls.
  6. Go to the receiver's menu and set all your speakers to SMALL.
  7. In the receiver's menu, set the SUBWOOFER to ON.
  8. Set the crossover for the speakers to 80Hz.
  9. Make sure the subwoofer is working and run the calibration program inside the receiver.
Read A Guide to Bass Management.

The sub I got right now I just used the red off of a set of RCA cords. It's only 75w and this JBL is 200w which is why I want to use it.

So you hade an RCA cable going from you're sub out on you're AVR to the old sub and now you are trying to connect you're new sub?

You should be able to simply remove your old sub and plug that cable into the yellow LFE port.

Has the sub ever worked? Maybe it is defective.

It turns on and the light stays red..

The little switch says AUTO or ON. And it says Red means idle and green is on or whatever..

Even with it in the "on" position the light is still red? What is you're level at in you're AVR? Did you double check you're settings in you're AVR? Do you have the volume high enough to turn the sub on and are you test with a movie that you know has good LFE?

when you change that switch from auto to on, the sub light should turn green to let you know that it is now on. has that happened? if not then turn the power switch off, no matter what position the auto/on switch is in, when you turn that power switch back on, the sub should kick in and if in auto and now LFE is being sent to it, it should turn off within say 15 - 30 seconds if in on, it should stay on. you've got to let us know what is going on. like others have said, has the sub ever worked to your knowledge? try my suggestions then get back to us.
best of luck

I'm pretty sure it has worked before. I got it from my cousins and I doubt they would give me a broken sub..

They also gave me a Y-cable so I'm not sure if they had both subs hooked up before or not but..

Take that y-adapter and plug you're sub cable from you're AVR into it and then plug one end into the white RCA input and the other into the red RCA input and see if it works.

no one said they did, were trying to help. try erict's suggestions about the y splitter and get back to us. i'm surprised that when you turned the power switch off and on that the lamp color doesn't change from red to green. also the person whom you got the sub from, did they give you the manual with it or can they tell you how it should be working from the indicator light as a status.

here is the link to a pdf for your sub. the sub is part of a 5.1 speaker system
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/media/i...L000065853.pdf

here is a quote about the sub:

"OPERATION

Move the Master Power
switch (marked “Power” ¡)
to the “•” (On) position to use
the subwoofer. The SUB145
subwoofer will automatically

(sleep) mode when left in the
auto mode (“Auto/On” switch
™in the “Auto” position).
When your receiver or amplifier
is off, or is not sending
program material to the subwoofer,
the subwoofer will be
in standby mode (LED will be
red). When the subwoofer
senses an audio signal, it will
automatically turn on (LED will
be green). If the subwoofer
does not sense a signal after
approximately twenty minutes,
it will automatically go back
into standby mode.
When the “Auto/On” switch
™is switched to the “On”
position, the subwoofer will
remain on, whether or not
program material is playing.
If you will be away from home
for an extended period of time,
or if the subwoofer will not
be used, switch the Master

like i said before when turning the power switch from off to on the status light should turn green, so again, is it at least doing that?
