Is HALO worth a Box? - Blu-ray Forum

Halo and gears both have me interesting in buying a box, but I cant think of any other games I would get...

How good are they?

Gears 1 and 2 are fantastic I have both and replay them often they are worth it alone also you might like Left 4 Dead if you get a box.

I'd recommend both; I've played both and I loved both. If you have an Xbox 360, go get it right away.

Halo was fun until I played COD, I can't go back now. Halo just seems like such a childish game and when you are on live it is nothing but 8 year olds cussing every other second. I will probably be selling my xbox soon and just staying with my PS3 and COD

I agree that Halo is nothing after CoD 4. But that doesn't mean you have to get it on the PS3. I actually like Xbox Live.

Gears 1 and 2 are great games.

Halo 2 was the best of the bunch, but I've been hearing good things about ODST from a friend who's had a chance to try it. It's got a different style from what I hear. The 360 is a great console to get if you are a fan of multiplayer shooters. Shadowrun is in the bargain bin for $10 now.... and it's truly one of the top 10 multiplayer shooter of all time but was badly under rated due to several different factors. Mass Effect and Gears are good games too.

Gears and Halo are the obvious system sellers. Mass Effect is great if you enjoy RPGs and is very cheap right now. The Orange Box is a great cheap find too, I know it is on ps3 but the XBOX 360 version is a superior version.

I love the Halo series. My brother and I used to compete all the time with Halo 3. However, due to the economy we can no longer afford to run an hour away each week to whip people's butts

Both of us are legit 50's on XBOX LIVE. Granted its Team Slayer, we're still pretty good one on one but we make a great team

There is no other game like Gears period! it's just so much different than anything. Forza is also a great Xbox game. but Live alone is a selling point for me.

I don't think a single game is ever worth buying an entire console for, but that's obviously based on me and my playing habits.

If you would play Halo a lot... as in, hundreds of hours, then maybe the cost of the console isn't too much of an issue.

At one point I thought about getting an Xbox 360, to play some of the exclusive games, the same way that I eventually bought a used Dreamcast. But I don't play enough games at this point to even cover all the big PS3 releases, so I decided against it.

Although, by box, I don't know if you mean Xbox or Xbox 360. That makes a bit of a difference. Maybe to the former, definitely not to the latter.

If you mean an original Xbox do it. Then buy Splinter Cell non Greatest Hits version and Softmod it. It's one of the best set top media centers you can use.

Halo is one of the reasons I initially bought a 'Box'. It is definitely worth buying one in order to play both Halo (1-3) and GoW (1-2). Truly awesome games with lots of replay value. AND, ODST is releasing next week!

Mass effect huh? Never thought about that. It looks awesome. PS3 needs more RPG's

For now, we have to stick with our own Valkyria Chronicles, and Eternal Sonata.

It would've been great if FF13 had English subtitles. I'd deal with the Japanese voice acting, just to play it in 2 months (when it releases in Japan), instead of waiting a year or more (when it comes out in the US).

Yes, unquestionably. While the 360 has obvious hardware issues, it is covered by a nice warranty and many of the recent systems run much more efficiently. Back to the actual topic at hand, the Halo games (most notable 3 and the upcoming ODST) have incredible replay value and are fun to play both by yourself and with others. In addition, as others on here have mentioned, the Gears of War series is becoming a huge favorite for 360 owners as is Mass Effect. I also consider the 360 controller to be one of the best console controllers ever made. I like the PS3 controller too, but I think the 360 controller is better for FPSs and is just more comfortable to handle and control. Recommended

I don't like the Halo franchise so for me it's a no. I felt that halo 2 and halo 3 didn't innovate enough to my liking compared to the 1st.

In my opinion, no console is worth it for just one game.

COD on the Xbox actually is easier, I have COD 4 for my PS3 and then COD W@W for my 360...the 360 sees more use though, but I'm starting to switch to COD 4 on the PS3

IMO the whole Halo series and Gears of War 1 & 2 are incredible games. If anything can make the purchase of a console worthwhile, it's these games. Also, as previously mentioned, The Orange Box on the 360 is a lot of fun as well. Not a graphics masterpiece by current standards, but still great to play through.
