The biggest thing I hate about Fox OTA during football is some replays go SD. I'm not sure if it's because of the local station here, because whenever it happens there's a station identification or a weather alert going on. I've yet to notice it on any of the other stations yet thankfully.

So how does the antenna work?? i dont see how it would.. it says theres a 40 mile range, which to me means that if theres a HD satellite ( or whatever it is ) it could pick it up , but the closest city that has local HD access to me is 120 miles away |

Local HD channels are not "free" for DirecTV or Dish customers. They include the price of the Local HD channel in the HD add-on pack.
I pay $9.99 a month for HD access through DirecTV and that includes my local channels in HD. If I cancel this package, I lose the HD feeds for the local channels. If you look carefully at the SD channel offerings, you will see $29.99 including locals. But then there is a tiny bit of print that says for $24.99 or something like that without locals. Should you want free local HD then you need to use an external antenna but you won't get the cable channels in HD. Now these is an FCC rule that does require DirecTV and Dish to waive the surcharge for local channels in both SD & HD if you live in a specific region. I forget what the stipulation is so you could call DirecTV and ask about it. Last edited by steve_dave; 10-28-2009 at 04:57 PM. |

Now on my local cable system (Comcast, New Castle County), Fox has the best quality on the games most of the time. CBS is always poor quality with blocking in the image and NBC isn't a whole lot better but it. ESPN is also pretty decent looking on MNF.
Maybe it is the cable service you subscribe to...not enough bandwidth and cramming 3 channels in the bandwidth that can barely handle 2 |

depends on your area.
I have Dishnetwork, and for the longest time they did not have local HD in my area, so I always had to use an antenna. Then about 6 months ago, they offered local HD in my area, so I did not need the antenna. Long story short, if directv does not offer in your area, only other option is an antenna. Until they finally do offer it to you. ![]() |
