Default Fox and BD+

hey guys,

I was just wondering if anyone else had an issue with the long loading time with FF4 rise of the siver surfer and day after tomorrow. both are fox films, and both have BD+. now i know that BD+ is a security measure meant to check if the disc is not pirated. and I know that it requires to be online and check the disc. could that be contributing to the length of loading time?

I have a 60GB PS3. and never experiance such issue before with any of my discs. it took about 2 mins for the discs to load and play. will there be an update to fix this issue?

other than that, both films are highly recommended excellent PQ, and losseless Audio. and both films marks fox return to the game.

I appreciate any thoughts regarding this issue.

thanks.

Haven't tried a new FOX movie, hopefully they'll fix this and give us DTSHD-MA decoding by the end of October

I'm also using the 60gb PS3 and mine loaded just fine. It took just slightly longer, no where near 2 minutes, probably just a few more seconds than a typical java title, to load on Day After Tomorrow.

I would have to assume that all titles released from Fox starting today with FF4 and Day after tomorrow. these are the only films available that i believe implements BD+ for now. i think the other studios will follow fox, and i am assuming Disney will be the next to implement it on their future releases.

I hope this will not be a problem for me. I plan to buy the simpsons on release date in UK. I will be using UJ-210 Panasonic notebook drive. I'm rather worried about compatibility

I thought something was wrong with my system at first. because it literally took it two mins to play. but then again, we still have the loading issue, that it takes sometime for the film to load. and somehow i think that BD+ is contributing to it. what i am wondering if there will be an update for the PS3, to tackle the length of loading time of a film with BD+ in the future.

I know for a fact that there is one player that will have a problem when it comes to compatibility. I don't remember the name i think it is the LG dual player. but then again, i suggest you go back to the manufacterer and see if there will be any compatibility problems with BD+ titles.

I don't know a lot about BD+ and all the requirements, but are you sure about having to be online (or is this just for PS3 owners)? I have the disc playing in my BDP1000 right now and so far so good, and it's not connected to the internet.

now this i am sure of, the tv is not the problem you can still watch blurays on any tv as long as they have the components for it, to be connected to a BD player and or PS3. the problem that you need to worry about is the BD player itself.

right..... thanks for all the answer. Just worried if I get the simpsons for some quid (£), and it won't work.
Well, at least it is good to know it worked on PS3 (my alternative BD player after I got my drive)

i am going to research this first before i give an answer. what i knew or was told, that BD+ goes online to check the disc, if its proper or not. if its proper it would let you play it, if not the player won't read the disc. Don't take my word for it, i am not sure, i may be wrong. i am going to research it and let you know the definite answer.

BD+ does NOT check online - most standalone players don't have Ethernet access so how could they?.

okay guys here is what i found out about BD+. apparently it doesn't need to go online to check according to this link which explains the basic of BD+.

http://www.cryptography.com/technology/spdc/bluray.html

However, compatibility with BD players will be an issue.

so, what i am wondering about the loading issue. what is contributing to it. is it BD+ or BD-J? Will there be an update for the PS3 in the coming future to solve this issue?.

The load time on the PS3 is not nearly as bad as the load times on the BDP-S1... holy crap, that takes a while. I think Waiting had the worst load time though (I haven't tested these new Fox discs yet). But I think there's going to be a load time no matter what. I can't imagine these Java titles loading as fast as a DVD, it's just too much information.

I would like to see a whitepaper on BD+ and how it works. Is any detailed information available on BD+? I found a presentation from 2006 on BD+ but since I'm at work I don't recall if it had any specific details on BD+ functionality.
