Default Is Netflix sending stripped down discs?

Is Netflix sending stripped down discs?
A bunch of my recent rentals have had no special features--and when I look up the reviews there are plenty listed. I don't see any second disc available for the special features.
Some of the recent titles I remember: Transformers 2, I Love You Beth Cooper, My Life in Ruins.

Yes, this was reported a while back. The studios were planning on selling movies to rental companies like Netflix with no extra features whatsoever.

Fox is making rental only versions for Netflix, Blockbuster, etc.

Transformers 2's bulk of extras are on a second disc, the only extra with the first disc is the audio commentary.

Look closer, for Transformers 2 do a search for 'transformers 2', and click on the title to see more information. On the left column, part way down, is
Bonus Material
[ADD] Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: Bonus

Click that and they will send you the second disc of the set.

The other two are Fox titles, so if Fox is really making stripped down versions, you might be out of luck there. You can always contact Netflix and complain about it... Not sure it will do anything.

Fox is making stripped down versions for DVD, and may have started for certain movies on Blu as well that they feel will have good PV resale numbers

I can confirm that Orphan I rented from Blockbuster is stripped down to only the movie...there is no extras available on the disc to be selected.
The label also indicates that is a "RENTAL".
I'm very disappointed with this issue, since I was looking forward to seeing the alternative ending.

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs from Netflix had a label of RENTAL on the VOLUME ID.

I've also got stripped-down versions of Transformers 2, G.I. Joe, Orphan, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (although in my case, not from Netflix).

So is it just Fox, Paramount and WB that are doing this? And do they actually think this is how they are going to be getting more people to buy blu-rays, as opposed to renting them?

I think a lot of folks might just assume that if their rental copy doesn't have any interesting extras, the purchase copy woudln't have them, either.

Please read the entire thread before posting.

Transformers 2 is _NOT_ a stripped down version. The version released in stores is a 2-disc set, all the bonus material is on the other disc. If you had read the entire thread, you would have seen where I said you can order the 2nd disc from Netflix if you want to see the bonus stuff.

G. I. Joe is also a 2-disc set, disc one features the movie only with a commentary. All the other bonus is on the 2nd disc (which Netflix does not seem to offering...).

Ice Age is Fox, so apparently a stripped down version is to be expected... Not sure about Orphan.

As long as the content of the movie is all in there in the first disc
I don't see whats the use for me

If the studios start screwing up with 90minutes stripped version of the movie instead of 110minutes itself frorm the netflix or blockbuster or any other rentals place would be sucks big time

If that is the custom of the studios iam screwed i might stop renting the movies might well as buy one movie instead buying all the five movies

You can't stop people from @ss-uming, humans have been doing this since they came around. People will continue making @ss-umtion of themselves for the rest of times too

On topic, I never rent so I have never seen this but I am not surprised they would do something like that.

What makes you think I didn't?

Transformers 2 and G.I. Joe are stripped-down versions at Blockbuster. I didn't say I got them from Netflix.

So it seems that just because you made incorrect assumptions about my post, you jumped to the incorrect conclusion that I had not read the entire thread.

Here, lets make this easier:

Fox and Lionsgate are the only studios who is mkaing rental exclusive releeases.

Warner only includes a pop-up menu so you need to press the Pop-Up Menu button to access languages, scene, AND special features.

Paramount's G.I. Joe and TF2s are two-disc sets and the only extras on the first disc are single commentaries for each film. The remaining extras are on the second disc.
