Default How do you choose the movie when you want to watch?

I'm sure many of you guys have large collections of Blu-rays and DVDs. My question is how do you choose a movie to watch for the day from your large collection?

Im personally having my movies sorted alphabetically. I use the program DVD PROFILER. During normal days I watch movies in alphabetical order but let the program choose the movie for me. for example movies starting with letter A for today then tomorrow letter B. The program itself randomly picks up a title with that letter.

During the weekend I watch what I really desire.

Would like to hear from you on what basis are you watching your movies.

I watch what I feel like watching all of the time. Why anybody would do it any other way really would have me wondering.

Well I do it that way because sometimes I tend to be biased towards a particular genre or movies. and because it is difficult to choose from a huge collection. but when I do it that way (randomly) I get excited because I would never know what I'm going to watch today or tomorrow.

Lately, I've only had time to watch about 3 movies a month, so it's been easy to choose what I wanted to watch. During the summer, though, when I had time to watch at least 5 movies a week, I would usually just have someone choose a number to represent the row, and then a number to represent which movie in that row. Got to rewatch a lot of movies I wouldn't have thought to rewatch that way!

I pretty much just watch whatever I'm in the mood for. If it's a blind buy though, I tend to watch it as soon as I can since I haven't seen it yet of course. If a new movie in a series is coming out, I tend to watch the other ones in the series again before seeing it.

I guess I see your point. I really only get to watch two or 3 movies a week though so I have to watch what I feel like watching. Braveheart has been in my player a bunch lately. LOVE IT!!!

If I know what is good for me, the wife picks the movie.

There are some movies that I like to watch seasonally, usually when they were released. I have a tendency to watch the first Star Wars (IV) movie in June, because that is when I first saw it. Likewise, I like to watch the LOTR movies at the end of December because that is when they were released, etc.

I really just have to be in the mood to watch a certain movie and then I'll watch it. The majority of my small collection is action-based, so its really just random. I'll stare at my collection for a few minutes, and then pick one out randomly.

Default one finger typing while holing baby.... sorry

easy......

many things determine what I watch....

1) what netflix sends

2) a thread here, or movie on tv gives me the urge to rewatch something

3) I just 'feel' like watching it

4) the wife picks

5) I just bought it

#4 is the usual deciding factor

edit..... if I feel like watching a film, and sit in front of my collection.....it is anyone's guess how I arrive at my selection

If you have a large collection, try this at a party:

Everyone picks 3 movies, then you put the movies on the floor and everyone gets 5 votes put into a hat, for every vote a movie gets you move the movie a little further {one box length usually works} down the area.

I've done this a number of times and it's a good way to get consensus with a big group of people.

honestly, i'll usually pick out more than 1, then narrow it down to 1 from that group (of 3-4). i rarely just grab one of the collection. and yes, the 3-4 i grab are either based on the mood i'm in or some thread i read discusing some theme that perhaps i missed, etc.
