Exclamation New BD's to Hit Target shelves on 10-14-07

So yes folks I have the complete list and prices of the new Blu Rays to hit shelves on Target on the 14th of this month. Of course depending on where you live this might change, but for any store in Southern California this should be pretty accurate. The section will be expanding to 8 feet which is a whole section when you look at the way the layout is. The following are the movies that will be out and the prices also. Any questions just ask me. Also Keep in mind this is full price for them and they will most likely go on sale more or be price cut down.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles $29.99
Troy Directors Cut 29.99
Vacancy 29.99
We Are Marshall 29.99
Weeds Season 1 24.99
Weeds Season 2 29.99
Casino Royale 29.99
Doctor Strange 24.99
Planet Earth 84.99

I have to tell you, at those prices they will have to put them on sale. As a manager for WM, I can tell you we are beating those prices by an average of $5 ($20 on Planet Earth). Competition is good for the consumer, though, and I'm sure Target will react appropriately. Lower prices on BD's are a win for all of us.

Except the Walmart locations I have been in recently have only a minimal number of hi-def products in stock.

Yeah, unfortunately it can be hit or miss on which stores carry a decent selection (mine has 30 for BD, 18 for HD-DVD). If there are any near a upscale or semi-upscale area, you might have better luck.

Great! But they have to price cut! Does this mean that they are getting rid of the 2 feet of HD-DVDs? I hope so?

That is good news, the target by me has had the same crap for like two months. I agree that wal-mart has better prices, but like the other guy said, their selection isn't the best. I have three wal-mart in my town and only one of them has a significant blu-ray selection. It is the one furthest form me so I never go there.

No HD DVD will have its own eight feet with just as many titles.

I posted this elsewhere, but I'll ask here as well: Has anyone confirmed this today? I tried 2 local Targets and neither one has expanded thus far.

Whatever happened to Target going Blu exclusive? Was that just for players?

Lazy workers than the set Date is for today....some will wait till Tuesday though

And Target is having both formats for the time being, after Christmas if BD does well enough they will get rid of HD DVD.

I wandered into a Target store on my way to work this morning, and what did I see? They doubled the space for HD DVD. Well, wait, They more than doubled their space for Blu-ray. So it looks like HD DVD has a pitiful selection. Yes, they added shelf space for each hi def format, but didn't add any of the movies yet! Most of the slots were empty. They did have titles on the tags for the slots though. TNMT, Halloween, Troy and many others!

My target expanded its blu-ray section by a TON, and left the DUD section the same. However the buyone-getone only included like the prestige, pirates 1 and 2, wild hogs, bridge to terabithia, and deja vu. Since i already have bridge and pirates 1, and did not like pirates 2 or any of the others really, I did not partake in this sale. Oh well....I'm sure there will be better sales down the road, I guess that is one perk of there being a format war, gotta have some sales to entice consumers.
