Default BLU-RAY..... 2 question???

I am sure everyone has been peaking around(More-so if you're someone like myself who roams around in forums) to see what the latest deals are gonna be for "BLACK FRIDAY"....my question is this....do you think the studios are just gonna get rid of dvd or just have all players run both(DVD and BLU RAY)??

Myself and i'm sure i'm not the only one who thinks it, i see movies becoming just like the music industry where you download to a player.

2nd questions......is Blu ray, perhaps, the last form of a tangible object to distribute movies to the home???

My answer to the first question: just look around Best Buy and you will see that 80%-90% of their current player inventory is BD and the rest DVD. Remember that Bluy-ray players will play your DVD movies. Second question: I believe that there will always be a format for those of us (which number in the millions) who prefer to own something we can actually hold, sell, trade, or dispose of at will.

It took DVD about 5 years to kill VHS. Blu-Ray has been around about 3 I would give it about 2 or 3 years maybe a little longer depending on how long it takes HD tvs to drop below $200 on a regular basis. Then more people will adopt the format.

2nd question is probably no for Digital distribution to be viable alot of technology would need to improve. Audiophiles won't go digital unless the sound quality reaches lossless quality. Main stream people won't adopt unless it is shareable too many people borrow or share movies with each other and watch it on multiple TVs. To do this would take a bit of give on the movie studios part as far as portability of these downloads and a great decrease in the cost of TVs, computers, networking equipment and portable devices.

I don't see either occuring in the coming decade.

the fact that there are still a lot of people who don't use the internet or have dial up will hinder movies from being completely downloadable. Like the people that live out in the middle of nowhere and have dial up, if they tried to download a full BD quality movie would take them the better part of a week if not longer to download.

I have to agree that distribution directly to the home via online as the "IT" standard to get your movie "ON" is a long way away, however, i still think the tangible object is headed on the way out.

Which in a way...sucks. I use to enjoy going to my local "WHEREHOUSE" music store(Now when i want music i go to youtube and it solves that) I use to enjoy reading both my local news papers(Now they both are awful. Well, at least they still have "Pearls before swine" and "LIO" lol)

Also, my not-so local walmart where i go to, that has a Mcdonald's inside... just right after i order some fries for my dad, slightly burnt...i'll dash over to the movie aisles and see what's out even though i already know but i got to get my fingertip fix...i was noticing the aisles have been shrinking. I was, like, "Aww, man!!! Not here, too!!!"

I guess you could say i hate change, lol.

Well, that's my vent. I feel better now, lol.

That's a solution to those who don't care about quality...... fortunately there are enough discerning consumers to keep physical media alive for a long time.

Yup, and therein lies the answer for most things, Blu-Ray quality movies, games, etc. etc. etc.
