Default Samsung UN55B7000 LED?

I know, I know -- you get dozens of these types of questions, but I'd love to hear what folks think about buying this set (for $2200) to replace my current tube bedroom TV (a very nice Sony but not HDTV -- 42" 4/3 ratio TV).

While I'd probably hook up a blu-ray player for occasional use (my main movie watching experience is a 9' BD projector system) mostly what this is going to be for is cable watching from my HD TiVo HDMI output -- we get the networks in HD but that's about it, as even ESPN is only "standard" on our system. We watch from our bed, about 10 feet away, and usually there is one light on on my wife's side of the bed (lampshade putting most of the light directly down on her side but some coming up over the top).

I have been bewildered by all my choices but the reviews said it was a good picture (prime importance) if lousy sound (not a huge deal as I'll use an external sound system most likely). I'd turn off any image stabilization (I really hate that look) so 120 versus 240 doesn't seem to me to be an issue unless I don't understand things (and I might very well not).

It's no small point that I can get this on 36 month no interest financing -- would be nice to pay less than $60 a month for something like this. Otherwise I might well just wait another year or two (but lose out in the meantime on viewing in HDTV).

Any and all thoughts (but be nice to me as I'm new to HDTV other than my projector) would be appreciated.

Thanks for the response.

Does anyone think I need the three year warranty? It comes with 1 year in home parts and labor, and 9 times out of 10 these warranty things are a ripoff.

I spent some time with my uncle's brand new 8000 series over thanksgiving and was blown away by the picture. Best I have ever seen.

Warranties are useful in direct proportion to how much they cost. So without knowing how much the warranty is, it is hard to make a sounde recommendation. Consumer Reports almost always says stay away from them, but for example, I got one on my Xbox and went through about 4-5 of those, so it paid for itself. Turns out to be a personal call on your part. Whatever you feel comfortable with.
