The crazy commercial is for a Japanese cell phone company called Softbank -- and get this: you get a free dog-shaped cell phone speaker if you sign up with them.
![]() here's the link to TMZ's website the commercial is on there http://www.tmz.com/2009/12/06/quenti...er-commercial/ |

That is pretty normal, they love to use Hollywood stars for their commercial, happen a lot more then you might think. Also they have weird or strange commercial to our eyes but they are rather normal for them. I guess they work over there. I once saw a razor commercial with Harrison Ford in Japanese in the 80's. I don't think the career of Tarntino will suffer because of this.

Yeah and they can do anything they want without fear of it hurting their career. I'm trying to think of more...but seriously it was like all of the biggest celebrities you can think of had a commercial for tea or dishwashing liquid, stuff like that. I want to say Cameron Diaz was in a cleaning product commercial.

![]() Someone else mentioned that the commercials in Japan are crazy but that they work over there...it's totally a cultural thing: they recognize the ridiculousness of commercials and instead of trying to make the actors in them seem like real people, like they do in the west, they embrace the silliness of the whole concept and turn the ads into something equally ridiculous and silly. When I first moved there, Japanese commercials seemed SOOO strange to me. After living there for a few years, when I would come back here, American commercials seemed strange, even disturbing, because they were so dramatic, trying to look "real" even though everyone knows they're not. |
