Guess what, I posted a supporting response to blu-ray on AVS and I was NOT banned. There goes that theory, tested and failed.

Logical arguments and technical specifications won't win the format war unfortunately but what I think is worthwhile is refuting the never ending nonsense supporting HD DVD whenever we have the opportunity and doing so without inflammatory comments, unless factual or supported by a well reasoned opinion about the relevant issues. It's interesting this thing about the codecs. I'm sure that BD50s with VC-1 hi bit-rate encodes tweaked to perfection would give excellent results and all of Warner titles (and if Universal produced BDs too) could be a showcase of the VC-1 codec that way, but instead it's being promoted as a "Look ma! We can shrink a 35mm into a CD!" thing by producing ever shrinking HD DVD video files. Which is one of the things that has totally convinced me the ulterior motive is not to promote HD DVDs in particular or High Definition discs in general, but to stall this war so long while convincing the mass public that low bitrate HD movies are acceptable by pre-exposing the public to it with HD DVD, while at the same time they get ready (since the infrastructure is not ready yet) for what they really really want: Selling and distributing downloads and download services.
I'm not really a Blu-ray supporter. I'm a high resolution film lover. I support the medium that has the capability to get us closer to the 35mm movie experience or beyond. That's why I support BD at this moment and I spend energy on it. I don't want to settle for second best (HD DVD discs) or third best (9 Mb/s VC-1 downloads to insert into my PC) and I see that if the real entity behind this opposing and wasteful war gets it's way, my dream of having (finnally!) the best movie experience at my home, might not happen/it's not gonna happen. So as I said before, consider what's at stake, o/~ You take nothing but your soooul. Think! ~\o - Yoko |

By the way yesterday they deleted 2-3 of my comments.
Also i have noticed that some mods delete posts and threads from BD section so that hd dvd looks bigger and more talked to! |

Now if 10Mb/s doesn't mean better quality to someone on the fence between the 2 formats - maybe they should research this some more. We all know what the difference is between 16/48 and 24/48 - same would apply to video... |

They love to lock threads. The reader is then directed to a 50+ page thread where they can post current news. I saw this happen to "Blu-Ray wins Q1 quarter". It was closed and the thread referred to was one from the beginning of the year.
Buried but not forgotten. |

That's funny- I was threatened to be banned from here for saying (sarcastically) "HD DVD rules". Apparently sarcasm doesn't translate in type. People have to do what they have to do. Of course a Woman's right convention isn't going to look kindly on a man running in there screaming, "Men are great!" I would say-expect a warning or the boot.

The really funny thing is AVS actually believe there is a "Project Hydra" where the BDA sends people onto forums to sell Blu-Ray. There are some hilarious psy-ops going on if you are a critical reader. |

blurays bitrate for video/audio is 54 hddvd bitrate is 36 thats a big difference. The video rate alone is blu 40 to hds 28. HDdvd can not change these rates and more disc space will not change them. shure a warner movie mite look the same on hddvd as it does on blu but that is probably because warner never took advantage of the blu bitrate and made them both the same. When you look a movie from fox, sony or diznee where they are using the full biterate thats where you will find the difference. The f4 silversurfer is the most beautiful video I have ever seen. That with pcm audio it the holy grail of home theatre.Bluray guys do not want to take a step backwords to hddvd we are dreaming about starwars in high bitrate video and true lossless pcm audio. Hd dvd can not deliver this kind of quality period.(unless they redesign the format) so never say never.

Well they claim that BG never really said that, he is really just trying to save face as it has been reported a lot and there is some evidence that he did, but the M$ camp is trying to make it look like an internet rumor. Saying anything like that in a forum full of M$ fanboys and advocates will get you banned fast.
Stick with apple! Apple is not evil like M$ is, and supports BD, unlike M$. I will not say Apple is perfect, but it is far far better than M$. |

I think we all know that if you post anything negative against the red team, you will get banned. They should rename that sight as they are red all the way.

I just kind of post whatever I want over there, waiting to get banned. I only post in the Blu Ray Software section, so I'm not trolling, although speaking your mind about BD in a BD forum is seemingly, and confusingly, taboo

I originally was going to their Blu-ray forum to look at the tier thread, but I've realized that their system sucks. One person will post and say "I watched this movie, it should go in (random color) tier." And they will immediately put it in that tier. I could go on there and pretend I watched a new movie and they would position it wherever I said. Maybe their list is relatively accurate, but I just don't like the way it's done. I pointed this out in the tier thread but didn't get banned for it.
