Question "The Wild" - is it worth getting?

How does it compare to say Surf's up, or Madasgascar?

It's good.

It's no boubt worth it for the $12 shipped from Amazon. Lots of great eye candy and a good story. I liked it, my kids loved it.

Sorry, I've only seen some part of Surf's Up but Madagascar gets lots of play here I would say if Madagascar is a 10 the wild rates a high 8 possibly low 9.

Yes, the opening scene alone is worth the money.

I don't think the story is nearly as good as Madagascar, and the voice actors just don't cut if for me...however, this looks amazing on Blu. I want every CGI movie to be on Blu because they look amazing.

My daughter really enjoys this movie. My friend's kids also enjoy the movie alot.

I thought this movie was awful. Simply terrible. Freakish looking characters, bad jokes, and uninspired style.

Avoid. I thought I didn't really like Madagascar, but after seeing this film, I realized how much better that film was.

Sorry, I just really didn't like this film. I would not recommend it.

Ok, think I'll follow my instinct and not get this one. I know, it looks great on BD, but if I start buying based on that alone, then I may as well buy "special effects" flicks.

I think that you will be fine for not having it. I got mine on Ebay for about 12 bucks. It didn't have a case or artwork. No biggie. Now if you could pick it up for real cheap, it would make a great BD demo disc. My .02.

It's worth it just to listen to Coldplay in 24/48 5.1

But seriously, the second half of the movie I thought was worth getting it for.

For me, even though it's US$12 using Amazon, it's not worth it. Maybe an US$8.

The story is all over the place but I agree with doby - it got better in the second half.

The Emperor's New Groove is worth US$12 for sure.

I've watched it twice, once on regular DVD and then once on blu-ray when I rented it from Netflix...

It's a beautiful movie...

I decided that it is not a purchase for me though. I bought Surf's Up, which I think is great, and entertaining, and a very good hi-def release. I have to say that I enjoyed The Wild more than Madagascar, but mostly just because the animation was more entertaining, it feels like a very similar movie.

The best things about the movie are a small amount of Eddie Izzard (the koala) and Lewis Black (the squirrel). Fur animation is amazing, but the story doesn't really hold its water with multiple viewings.
