Smile Robert Harris' "The Wild" Blu-ray review

'The Wild' review

By Robert Harris, Motion Picture Archivist

Quote:
"Extraordinary, groundbreaking, reference quality bar none -- this is a disc to run when someone stops by that hasn't a clue what HD is all about, and doesn't care. They'll leave sold on the new format, as this is a demo disc that will sell Blu-Ray players.

I've not seen anything quite like it."

I really wish he would just lose the "Blu-ray DVD" thing already. Blu-ray is not DVD.

I see that thrown around here and there, but if that's what it takes to get more people to look into it? So be it.

i heard it was enjoyable, think ice age, where little kids get it and laugh but with a few extras in there that even make us adults go "haha." i know my little cousins loved it and so did their mom, i just never saw it.

This reviewer carries a lot of weight with me. He's a highly respected authority in the field and is practically an encyclopedia when it comes to the filmaking process. This is a review you can count on.

I'm sure the movie looks wonderful on BD, but I, personally with 3 kids and one more on the way, have become quite the kiddie movie reviewer. Anyhow, the movie was descent, not even close to being on par with the quality releases you get on Pixar (in terms of the story only). Essentially, the movie was Madagascar meets Finding Nemo--and this is essentially why I didn't care for the movie all that much--and lacked originality in terms of the story and characters.

I give it a "B." If I was to rate it by stars (in terms of how good the story is only) on a scale of 5, I would say, 2.5. My kids enjoy it, but they would rather watch Cars or The Incredibles over it anyday.

My 2 cents.
