Switching straight from HD DVD exclu to Blu Exclu.

After the news of HD-DVD's death following the press announcement by Toshiba declaring it would not produce HD DVD players in the future, US studios are switching their allegiance day after day, like Universal which was until now HD DVD exclusive. In France, the switch is not as dramatic and the anouncements are slow to arrive. Wild Side is therefore amongst the first of the class and logically decided to turn to Blu Ray for its future releases.

The first title of the editor to enjoy a beautiful "Blue" Disc will be in may-june the film of James Gray, We Own The Night. This is a Day and Date with the DVD. For the technical specifications, everything is still to be anounced, even if the editor promises to do even better on the side of bonuses than its US counterpart released by Sony. We can thus expect a nice interview of Gray, hoping that the awesome audio commentary of the US version will be preserved.
The burrial of HD DVD also marks the end of the hope to see a simple disc HD DVD release of Pan's Labyrynth which was earlier scheduled in a mere few weeks. Although it still hopes to see fixed on HD support one of its best titles, the editor does not know yet if it will be able to release a Blu Ray edition of the Del Toro film. In any case, there is a good chance that the superb "Ultimate" edition of the title with its 4 discs (including one in HD DVD), in limited edition, will not be re-published with a Blu Ray in replacement.
This is how true collector items are born.
