Everyone someday will have HDTV.

Perhaps some people, like students on a tight budget for one example, would like to build up a film collection now, so when they do spring for a HDTV they will already have a nice library of films in the right format. That would show their confidence in Blu-ray, which is a good indicator = "public wants Blu-ray".

Good plan, if you ask me

Is this really an issue?

right now I'm enjoying my ps3 with my Panasonic ED plasma and let me tell you.....I can clearly see a difference between SD and HD both in detail and color. I will however purchase a full 1080p tv down the road. Calling us 'usefull idiots' is uncalled for, we're future-proofing our purchase instead of double or triple dipping.

I started buying blu-rays before I got my HDTV, though I had a PS3 to watch them in standard def. I knew I was gonna get a high def TV and I wanted to have content for it when I got it.

I wonder how many PS3 owners are buying Blu-Ray just to have the movies even w/o a HDTV and how these people affect overall sales for Blu-ray? I'm sure they are not the only ones!!!
I was one of those people who owned a PS3, bought blu-ray movies, and didn't own a HDTV. But later on, I got really tired of missing the full value of it and went to Circuit City and bought a badass 32" Sharp Aquos 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio with 1080p quality. I prefer a big screen but it was for my bedroom

Im not sure if i should feel offended...I happen to own 3 blu-rays...payed 9.99 for 2 of them and 13.75 or some shit for the 3rd one? I do plan on getting an HDTV in the near future. Should I just by the same movie on DVD instead for the same price? That's what sounds kind of stupid to me

Damn, thats a long time to wait. I didn't have enough patience to wait that long because I was thinking," What was the point in having blu-ray equipment without an HDTV"

When you do go and buy your HDTV, look at only the Samsung, Sony, and Sharp HDTVs. Those are the top three best brands on the market right now. I own a 32" Sharp Aquos 1080p with 10,000: 1 dynamic contrast ratio.

Useful idiot my a$$. I have a PS3 and I buy Blu-ray for many reasons - and here's one you might not have thought of:

The movies even look better on Non-HD TV's too !!!

One of my first purchases was The Last Waltz - a concert film that's about 20 years old. I was doing an internship out of town in an apartment furnished with a 13" tube TV. I played both my existing DVD copy AND the Blu-Ray copy ON A 13" TUBE TV!!! and you could STILL tell a difference!!!

Thank you for assuming, you know what they say about folks that do that.

Oh wait, I guess I'm assuming you know what they say...

Anyways, the Blu-Rays I buy of DVD's I already own look better on my 27" color RCA Tube. Within a year, I'm looking to have a 46-52 XBR4. Well mein froind - the improvements I already see will do me just fine until I can afford the luxury of Hi-Def.

Thanks and goodnight...
480i is 480i.....Blu-ray doesn't change that.

I’m not knocking or disrespecting anyone who buys Blu ray movies. For the longest time HDDVD group and others try to tell us, or denied that ps3 is being used as a Hi Def player.

Now with people buying the movies without the HDTV instead of putting them down them I would encourage them. We need people like these to increase the sales margin

Ive read in a few forums about people that have dozens of Blu-ray movies yet have no Blu-ray player, they said they bought the movies because they were shure they would buy a blu ray player in the future and didnt want to miss out on the sweet deals Blu has been getting lately, can you also call this people idiots or wise thinkers?
Amen! That's exactly what I did from November 2006 when I bought my PS3until March 2007 when I got my HDTV. Nothing wrong with future proofing your dvd collection

Thats what I was thinking. Why are they idiots? I think labeling people idiots for helping blu is basically making you look like an *******.

I would bet that the people with PS3s and SD sets bought the PS3 strictly for gaming.

Apparently you havent been reading ALL these post. there are a lot of people with PS3 buying BD's and they have Standard TV's.

People just keep on dismissing PS3 owners, I dont have one( May get one) but the PS3 owners are playing a huge role in this war. People need to stop discarding them.

I won't mock your decision. Some Blu-Rays are cheaper than DVD or cost the same. Why not go with Blu?

Better transfers are better transfers, better sound quality is better sound quality.

Blu-Ray changes that...
