Default Does Toshiba get a piece of Blu-ray profit?

I see many people saying they'll boycott dvd because Toshiba gets royalties. Is the same true with hardware? Blu-ray players are certified dvd players.

Then there's probably a good chance they're collecting some kind of royalty. So, who knows, when Blu wins and HD is out, chances are they'll still be collecting. I wouldnt get bent out of shape on this one as it's part of the nature of the business. JVC probably still collects on VHS stuff.......in there's any of it still being bought. JVC got royalties everytime a Sony VHS player got sold so it's probably the same here. Toshiba's not gonna get rich on this. Dont be surprised to see them eventually make a Blu player just like Sony started making VHS machines a few years after the format started. They're not stupid. They still try to take advantage of any loss they incur from the demise of HD-DVD.

Outstanding Doctor D!!.....that's Commando Cody, Sky Marshal of the Universe. I have a 26 VHS episode 2 tape that was on TV in the early 50's. Before that he was a Saturday movie matinee' cliffhanger series that was shown each week in addition to the feature. He was known as Jeff King in King of the Rocketmen, as Commando Cody in Zombies of the Stratosphere(w/a very young Leonard Nimoy) and as Larry Martin in Radar Men from the Moon. I have the serieals on Laserdisc and they're also available on DVD. Great stuff and if you have small kids they love it. The actor Judd Holdren who played Larry Martin was the same actor who played Commando Cody in the TV show.
George Wallace, who played the Bosun in Forbidden Planet was Commando Cody in Radar Men from the Moon. Tris Coffin played Jeff King in King of the Rocketmen. All wore the exact same flying suit, which, as a kid, was the coolest thing I ever saw.
Thanks for the kudos on the Avatar.

This is incorrect. That is dvd discs, not players that Toshiba gets royalties on. Sony and Phillips invented dvd players.
I thought Snap's avatar had something to do with SAW.

It was before my time as well but I did grow up watching it in Syndication. It was one of my favorite shows growing up along with Gigantor!

It would be so cool to see that show remastered and released in Hi Def. BTW, thanks for the link!
