Default New HT photos with 60" kuro

I finally got around to uploading photos of my HT and deleting the old shots. These are my first photos since installing my KRP-600M several months ago. Also lots of shots of the VAC tube amps and B&W speakers. Check it out.

Yeah, it's tempting to spend every hour I'm not asleep or at work planted on that sofa. I'm lucky to have this gear...and I enjoy it every day. The photos don't do it justice.

Love the new pics Greg! That amp of yours has me drooling every time I see it. It's an Integrated right? How many w/p/c is it? Would love to see some pics of the rear.

Nah, you're just staying low-key so the cops don't get wind....probably got it all buried in the back yard.

I wish. I've developed home addition plans with an architect and there is a decent HT area designed as part of a master bedroom suite. I went as far as getting city approval for the addition, but couldn't justify going way into debt. If I had the money I would start construction right now.

Thanks Jon. It is an integrated but the second switch down to the right of the volume knob is cinema bypass which allows me to decouple the internal preamp from the power section of the VAC. This bypass allows me to use the VAC as a power amp with the Integra.

It's 110 WPC, which is toward the low end of the recommended power for the 802D, but those speakers are actually quite sensitive/efficient. The VAC sounds far more open and detailed than solid state amps like Classe and Pass.

Greg,

Glad you posted a new/revised Gallery with the new larger Kuro. It looks great; now you just need the added space, but just like you, we are waiting to see what you come with once you can afford the addition to the house.

Thanks Spurrier and Rich. Funny how 50" displays look so small to me now.

It may be a few years before I can build the addition but in the meantime I can't complain.

John, here are two quick shots of the rear panel. I don't want to move the amp, so this is the best I can do for now. The binding posts on the back are sweet, but no way to use bananas. I had to order new cables with spades on one end. Also note the proprietary power cables with their beefy collars. This is the only way to connect the amp to its external power supply.

Those binding posts are sweet and very unconvential indeed. I like spade connections actually, although bananas are certainly more convenient. Did I notice 2 seperate power connections/supplies on that last picture? Does this mean you have a power cable connected to its own seperate power supply for the VAC 110i and then another to the power supply for your system? If so, then that is certainly unconventional as well.

I haven't discussed with Kevin Hayes the approach he used for the Phi Beta but I know he pays special attention to grounding wires. For example, in the Avatar, the VAC amp I owned previously, 24 ground wires converged on a single binding post in the rear of the unit. Hayes discovered that you lose musical information if you don't carry each wire back from the circuit board individually and pay careful attention to how each circuit is grounded.

The Avatar had an internal power supply, but the Phi Beta 110i has an external 42-lb power supply that I keep about four ft away from the amp itself. I suspect that Kevin designed the Phi Beta 110i to separate the grounding wire and keep it separately shielded all the way to the power supply.

Hey I was in a rush when I took those updated photos with the amp turned off, but maybe I should take more with the tubes lit up. What do you guys think?
