Default Upconverting Question

I watched Transformers yesterday on DVD in the PS3 which upconverted it to 1080p. It looked very good.

My question, if I do that with every DVD I have, will it upconvert? What are the limitations and how can I tell by looking at the DVD information?

First of, the process is called "upscaling", not upconversion. Yes, any standard DVD you put in a PS3 will be upscaled.

Provided that you are connected with a HDMI cable.

Correct. Also, you need to enable upscaling in the PS3 setup menu. But i assumed the poster already did that part.

What's the best setting to have on the PS3 for upscaling?

i thought the options was "Normal" or "Double"? (Double is not recommended on 1080 displays)
