Default Change speakers to large setting?

Hi folks. I have big 15" front speakers and I'm starting to think that maybe I should be setting them to "large" on my receiver. What do you think and what change will doing so make? Thanks.

what it does is send full signals to your front speakers, disregarding any crossover settings you've placed on them (front speakers respectively).

we also have a sticky that indicates why we'd prefer not to do so,

Well should I send bass out the sub and the fronts as well considering how big they are? I'd like to learn how to set up everything properly given the constraints on each speaker/frequencies they can handle.

size doesnt matter in this case. more or less we'd have to look in to what the frequency response is per speaker (some can go as low as 40hz).

When I was setting up my equipment the first time ever. I noticed that my sub wasn't on. Found out that my speakers were set to Large, and I was told to set them to Small. After that quick adjustment the signal was going to the sub.

Give your sub the full frequency range by keeping your fronts at small. Otherwise, why even have a sub?

Also keep in mind that even though your main speakers have very large drivers, a separate subwoofer has the benefit of being to able to be placed properly for the best results and this is most likely not the case with your mains. However, if you REALLY want to know what it sounds like there's no reason you can't try it out to see what you think. You can always change it back.

Also, no sub means no LFE signal....so there is information not being used. But like Steve says, you can always try it.....

its also trying to isolate one or two specific locations as to where the lower frequencies would come from, to avoid phase cancellations and or doubling up so to speak. with having multiple sources, you get this challenge, thus not having a good flat response from the room.

If you turn the subwoofer OFF on the reciever most recievers will force the front left and front right to Large/Full and will in fact re-direct the LFE to the front's. Keep in mind this is only recommended if you have front speakers that can handle deep bass

The OP posted a similar thread somewhere else on the board and it turns out his front L & R speakers are actually better equipped to handle the deep bass better than his subwoofer.

This is how I run my set up. My towers are set to large, and my sub still works and blends extremely well. I've tried setting my speakers to small, but it just doesn't sound as good. You should at least try it out and let your ears decide.

For what its worth, I should note that I do live in an apartment, and I've got my sub dialed down pretty far.
