what it does is send full signals to your front speakers, disregarding any crossover settings you've placed on them (front speakers respectively).
we also have a sticky that indicates why we'd prefer not to do so, speakers 101 guide to bass management |

size doesnt matter in this case. more or less we'd have to look in to what the frequency response is per speaker (some can go as low as 40hz).

When I was setting up my equipment the first time ever. I noticed that my sub wasn't on. Found out that my speakers were set to Large, and I was told to set them to Small. After that quick adjustment the signal was going to the sub.

Also keep in mind that even though your main speakers have very large drivers, a separate subwoofer has the benefit of being to able to be placed properly for the best results and this is most likely not the case with your mains. However, if you REALLY want to know what it sounds like there's no reason you can't try it out to see what you think. You can always change it back.

its also trying to isolate one or two specific locations as to where the lower frequencies would come from, to avoid phase cancellations and or doubling up so to speak. with having multiple sources, you get this challenge, thus not having a good flat response from the room.

The OP posted a similar thread somewhere else on the board and it turns out his front L & R speakers are actually better equipped to handle the deep bass better than his subwoofer. |

For what its worth, I should note that I do live in an apartment, and I've got my sub dialed down pretty far. |
