Any new news coming out?

I posted just months ago about Blu Ray and how it likely won't catch on for years until HDTV does. As well, I mentioned down the line I'd get HDTV but not yet. Well guess what, I got to the point I wanted a large screen TV and widescreen for DVD's. I don't use HDTV and won't yet but I figured if I'm getting one that size I'd go for HDTV. Now I want a way to buy either recorded content or record HDTV. I plan on getting the HD TIVO that's coming out late this year and will then get a few HD DirectTV Channels. One reason I am more tempted to rush on this is people are talking about in the future more HD Content will be copy protected for recording.
I know though I'd pay big bucks at this time for Blu Ray and likely wouldn't even get it in the US but when is it supposed to come out in the US? One thing that does make it hard to jump is the fact or will that or a competing standard catch on? A lot of people with HDTV are talking about D-VHS. I hate to invest in that to only go to Blu Ray in a couple years. I am still glad I bought a DVD recorder though because at least the video although not HD is far better quality than if I was recording to VHS.

Yeah, I though this was probably a new site, at best started in early 2005. I had never even heard about Blu-ray until early this year.

That brings up a good question. Anyone know when this site actually first started? BTW,For those that are wondering, Cooters reply was "Where have you been? Blu-ray players have been out since last year." Just highlight the text and it becomes readable.

Now that I've finally read it, it's pretty funny, making that reply to a 2003 thread. Perhaps there's a time warp going on we don't know about.
