well me & the wife finally bought some super comfortable couches for th living room, but we need space.
we are finally getting rid of our 'log cabin wall unit' (her gandparents gave it to us) well im going to buy a monoprice mount 3725 Wall Mount there is a youtube video demostrating how 'easy' it is to install a bracket. the problem is that im FAR from a Bob Vila person. im good with electronics & sports, but i lack when it comes to tools ![]() i have a couple of questions/concerns that hopefully you guys could answer for me.

I got a cheaper mount from them, but generally, they really are that easy to install. The smaller one I got had lag bolts that would go most of the way into a 2x4, and I would doubt this one would have anything less.
One useful tool, though, will be a stud finder. They're cheap enough to buy one, or just borrow from a buddy. Use this to find the in-wall location of your studs (mark both left & right edges, then mount to center). I wouldn't ever hang a big TV with any other option than lag-bolting into the studs. I prefer to drill pilot holes for any lag bolt usage, and a quick search brought up this easy guide: http://www.renovation-headquarters.c...pilot-hole.htm Notice their separation of shank and thread sizes. |

Yes, wall mounting your TV is actually very simple. Its the getting over the first time jitters and just cut into a perfectly good wall that you need to get past!
Im like you, sports and electronics. But I mounted two TV's for my first time, as you can see in my HT pics. I mounted my 50" Panny (80lbs) using monoprice mounts. I also ran my cables in the wall using monoprice wall kit. Did this in the middle of the night after a long days work...lifted the tv all by myself! (I would HIGHLY recommend an assistant. ![]() But after all is said and done, its the "clean" look people love. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() Speaking of that, no word on the 58" Plasmas we talked of months ago I presume? (not that it matters here for now, as I'm out of my Main job - so $$$$$ is extremely tight - might be working for AFLAC Insurance though; waiting on any word from them now). Good luck with the mounting - let us know how it turns out. |

(1) I would pre-drill with a drill bit about half the lengh of the bolt. (2) Use a rachet to hand screw the bolt all the way into the stud. Take your time with this part. No need to rush. I did both on mine, the Samsung 40" in the bedroom and Panasonic 65" in my basement. |

my god thank you all for the prompt replies
![]() how do i KNOW my studs in my wall are 16 inches apart? i installed a shelf a few months ago and my stud finder kept telling there is a stud and i drilled like 12 holes, per the stud finder, to find 2 studs ![]() will the mount link in the 1st post fit my 54 panny plasma? ^^that^^ is probably a dumb question, but like i said.....tools arent my specialty |

Its imperative that you go into the stud straight, a predrilled hole will definitely help with that.. I helped my friend mount a tv once and by the time I got there he had already started and the lag bolt was seriously going in at a 45 deg angle, that could have been bad for business ![]() |

Yes, the one you picked will be fine, I just don't know what the difference is between you one you picked and the one I used, which is $51.30
I do have a horror story about a stud finder acting funny.... In my apartment before I moved, the stud finder was going off every 3 to 4 inches. I found out I had little wood planks along the drywall. I'm not sure what they are called, but I'm calling them wood planks. If you have them, then you will have to check your power plug, they are usually attached to a stud. You will have to go from there. |

That cable I have plenty of slack. When I was in the Apartment, I was using a one arm mount and that pulled out and swiveled. I would often have it facing to the left or right on a regular occasion. The way my room is designed now, I really don't know why I have this mount. Only thing I do now is maybe pull it closer to me. |

i wall mounted my 58' panny with the same bracket. very simple to assemble and mount. make sure you recruit some help because you will be removing the tv from the mount several times to get the alignment correct. my setup was a bit more custom than just finding studs. i may update my profile pix for ya.
