i'm still troubled by the fire in lakeside. with the winds dying down the fire can now move as it pleases. and with nothing between lakeside and my house but kindling I only hope that the sdfd and its allies can continue to fight as well as they have so far.

i'm glad to hear everyone else is fine. except gascat. haven't heard from you today. you doing alright?

They evacuated me last night. I was driving out and saw two firetrucks with their lights and sirens taking my place. I wound up at the Q and spent the night in my car underneath a couple towells for warmth. I stayed around the stadium today. The people here in SD caused a traffic jam trying to give food and water to us. It was a remarkable sight to see.

I finally decided to come back up here even though it was not announced. If I was blocked then I was going to SDSU's gym where they were helping students. There wasn't any roadblocks and the stores are all open. Best Buy's parking lot was packed. That surprised me.

The only possible thing I saw was a house a few blocks away. It's fence had holes in it as if the firemen had gone in there. I didn't see any damage on the east side of 15 at Mira Mesa Blvd.

Buck, get to a place where the air is being filtered and sit tight there. That's the safest thing for your honey and kid. They have lifted the evac for here but most of my neighbors are still gone.

This is a long link. It will show you a map of the evac centers and areas currently under evac.

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en...42957&z=9&om=1

If that doesn't work for you then go to this story and you will see the link:http://www.informationweek.com/news/...leID=202600871

we're back home with all our purifiers going and the central air pumping. not the a/c though, trying to keep our electricity usage down.

still worried about the inlaws who are in jamul. but they got out so all that is good. happy to hear everyone here is ok. gascat, I had friends at the stadium and they said what you said. there were so many people coming and offering help. I saw that fema even showed up its a trip. I haven't watched this much news in 6 years. glad the factory I work at gave everyone off til thurs with pay.

so hey who wants to watch spiderman next week? although there will be a baby around. we'll call it a 'we-survived the-end-of-the-world-so-lets-all-watch-spiderman-3-on-blu-ray' party. woohoo. we won't be BBQing though.

edit: not sure if any of you are familiar with the punk scene here of around 8 years ago. but there was a band named Agent 51. awesome band and I sadly have 1 of their songs stuck in my head whenever this happens. ''san diego is burning''.

'voices crying out deep in the night, the streets are empty again, so what's the explanation while we're putting up a fight, when san diego's burning again.'

something like that.

Hilarious! I think we will have that smoky flavor for quite some time. It's been an odd week that's for sure and think of the story you will have the little one!

They showed Spiderman inside Qualcomm stadium on the big screen. Some idiot thought that showing the "Fantastic Four" would be great too...until that guy with the fire came along in it. Can you believe that? People started screaming as the sound of fire echoed though the walls of the stadium.

OK maybe they didn't scream but man it was unnerving because we all just wanted to listen to the news.) You should enjoy the little one for a bit. That is a special time in both of your lives. We will get together soon enough.

That was a kind offer Jerm.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words. I was amazed by how SD came together in helping each other out. It felt so good to sleep in my own bed last night.

Default BD deat at NEX

I have not posted here much but I've been reading for a while. Just thought I would let anyone here that might have military connections know that we received the NEX flyer for next week, and starting 31OCT for a week they are going to be having 31 BDs for $9.99. They looked to be mostly Disney titles, but I could list the ones from the ad if anyone is interested. I know that a lot of people in the SD area are or have been associated with the military and may have access to the Navy Exchange.
