I had watched a couple other movies before and never received this message??. I had 7.2 prior which worked fine and after I performed the upgrade I had no problem watching it either. Today I received CARS and wanted to give it a look and it does not play. The drive after the disc is in shows 0 bytes like it is a blank disc??????. Has anyone had an issue with CARS???. Now I am getting graphic driver error message when I put back in Night at the Museum. I Verfied that the graphic driver did not change....WTF!!!
If the drive is showing the disc as 0 bytes, it is not reading the disc. That is a separate error than the graphic driver error. I googled your laptop and it uses the nVidia GeForce Go 7600 video card. Go to nvidia.com and download the latest video driver if you continue to get a "graphic driver errror."

Hi Sarnell2,

Already did that when I received the laptop last week. Nvidia redirects you back to the Sony support update web page and I had upgraded to the lastest driver available last week. Not sure why this is happening now since it was working fine yesterday?. The CARS disc is baffeling. I popped in Night at the Museum and it shows 21.5gb, CARS is reading ZERO!. Maybe a blank disc.

This sounds like the incident is related directly to Cars. Are your other Blu-Ray movies still working OK? The Cars disc is not empty, but could potentially be scratched or unreadable w/ your BD Drive. I've had problems in the past where my PC DVD drive could not read certain DVD's for whatever reason. Give the disc a good cleaning and try again.

No luck so far. still getting incompatible graphic driver error message when playing night at the museum. It was working fine yesterday with this graphics driver. I am going to reinstall pwerdvd and see what happens.

just gave the cars disc a good wipe down and looked at the disc and there is no scratches and same thing, no data showing. Either this is a blank disc or this POS cannot read the higher cap discs

I think PowerDVD is your problem. I have not yet watched a Blu-Ray on my PC (since that defeats the purpose of HD, watching BD on a PC screen). Anyways, I have read some other threads and in other forums about issues with PowerDVD. You should do a search on that part to be certain, this is just a guess.

I also have a VGN-AR190G.
"My Computer" showing nothing in the drive happens here as well, but the discs play fine.
Also note: When the drive is empty, it is listed as a DVD RAM drive.
When a BD is in the drive, it is listed as a CD drive.

I had the Incompatable Graphic driver once, ran NHC and cranked the processor up to max and BDs would play.
Did a System restore and NHC was no longer needed.

Try Restoring to yesterday and see if one of the older BDs plays.
Also make sure you have *ALL* the updates installed from Sony Support.

The Sony laptop has full HD 1920x1200 screen but I have been testing it on my 37" 1080p desktop pc monitor. I have a JVC 70" but have not tried it on that TV yet.

Notebook Hardware Control(Free!)

http://www.pbus-167.com/

You can use it to control all kinds of items on notebooks.
No overclock, I just used it to override the throttling back of the processor.

It seems that the processor was staying throttled and not ramping up and the BDs wouldn't play. Incompatable Driver - BS!

While the processor was running at max(1995 - 1999.5MHz) no more warning and the BDs would play.

Uninstall PowerDVD and see if the discs will play in WinDVD BD for VAIO.

EDIT: Even with Power Options set to Performance, the processor throttles back.
Apparently, for some odd reason, when trying to play a BD, the processor was not ramping up.

Even right now processor *should* be running at 1995+MHz. See pic.

NHC doesn't care.
NHC will run the processor at max if you tell it to.

Thing is, you shouldn't have to run NHC just to watch a BD.

Something has happened since yesterday(?) that is (most likely) not allowing the processor to ramp up - giving you that error and not playing BDs.
No telling what could have done it.

Restore to yesterday. Uninstall PowerDVD - for now.
Try playing a BD with WinDVD BD.

Thanks Dadkins:

I will install NHC and give it a try. The crazy thing is that all was working fine yesterday. As soon as I popped in CARS, This whole mess started..

Restore back to yesterday - morning if possible.

Lots of issues lately with PowerDVD.
I got the info about the update.
I saved it and am waiting until I get a BD that refuses to play.
WinDVD plays all of my BDs, PowerDVD uses less resources... and can play media files

Just ran NHC and it did not resolve the issue . I tried windvd once before and it just locks my system up. So I installed powerdvd and I never had a problem since I reveived this new laptop last week. I just gave windvd another shot and same thing. system froze. I guess I will just have to do a system restore.
