I'm sick of hearing complaints aboud BD load times.
Right now, please let me know, concisely, what is it that you are missing out on while waiting for your BD to load? Will your life be that much richer, if you save 90 seconds before sitting down to watch a two hour movie? Has the instant gratification generation become THAT impatient? Does your lover complain about your lack of patience? ![]() |

I have to agree with the OP.... load times are a non-issue. Put the disc in and then get yourself a drink and a snack, by the time you get back, you're in business. Or better yet, get a PS3, you'll have a fully BD-Live compliant BD player for less than most standalones and almost no load time.
Now if it took like 15 minutes, then I can see people complaining a lot. |

I'd be more interested in them curtailing the coming attractions and making that simply a feature by request. Take longer to load if you must but don't make me sit through this drivel or be forced to skip past eight of them. Just show me the damn movie!

I also agree with the OP, and no, I won't get a PS3 just for load times, I can wait a minute or so to watch a movie.

I don't think they are all that big of a deal, especially for a movie, you are going to be sitting there for the length of the movie anyways. If you go to a theater, consider sitting through all of the "commercials" beforehand, load times don't seem as bad now, eh?

Load time do bother me. Since I have two PS3's to play Blu-ray movies I though all players were about as fast. Then I went to Best Buy (Magnolia) and tried their Sony Blu-ray player. I though the unit was broken because3 it too so long to boot up and play the movie. To me wait times loner than 30 seconds is not acceptable. I am sure in the next generation of Blu-ray player they will use faster processors and optimize the code to improve speed. Of course the Blu-ray quality makes it worth the wait.

I agree on both sides here somewhat. I'm not really worried about the time it takes to load a disc; however, what I worry about is new consumers coming into the format seeing this and saying, "Well, is my player broken?"
This is where I worry, because as I've had happen before on one standalone that it took five minutes of loading for me to realize it was in a loop and I had to turn the power off and turn it back on. Some players have these issues with Java loading, so I do have my concerns on the Java taking so long to run. Now, those things being said, with new profiles coming out 1.1 & especially 2.0, these loading times should decrease. But for now, I'm just biding my time for those things to come out and take a few moments for a breather at the beginning of the BD loading. |

I understand about new users wondering if there is a problem. When I first got my player, there was no onscreen indicator that anything was happenin, and a couple of times, I thought something was wrong with the disc. Somewhere along the way, firmware fixed this. What I find annoying are the movies that just start without a menu screen. |

My biggest complaint is that I want the BD players to remember where I left off in a film. On the PS3, if you stop the film and go to the XMB, you're usually fine to press play again and have it pick up where it left off. However, any blu-ray utilizing BD-J will not do this and you are forced to sit through and load the whole thing over again.
There's nothing more that I like to do than sit down and enjoy a movie without interruptions. There are several times though when I have to stop in the middle of a film and I don't want to leave my blu-ray spinning in the PS3 on pause until I decide to return to it later. |
