All that would do is repeat each frame 5 times. After about 2 it stops being noticeable. 120 is used because it is 5x24 and 4x30. It's just a nice all around refresh rate.

Everybody has there own opinions on this subjuct, I guess I can throw mine in. I think it gives films a more scrisp smooth look which is good but maybe to good, because to me it makes movies look like a different video feed, like the o.c. as an example, but the one thing I did notice from it it introdueced all the blur problems I had with my odler model. Now on the model tv I had there was always a part on a movie I saw major blur on a part in the movie, so I figure with the new model I had that supported 24fp, I activated it and watched that same part to see if it went away and it was still the same, but then I turned it off and watched it again on the newer madel and it took all blur away, all in all what I mean is all these new models are gonna work different I think and look different to different people. The best think to do is buy a tv you want that supports that and try it it out and if it doesn't do for you, then you'll the result of 24fps and what it does for you. Hope I helped any. JLaSoul

It might seem a little smoother, but it's the exact same frames. Either way, nothing does 24hz so it's going to be 48hz or more. 120hz seems to be the standard they are working toward for displays, because it supports 24, 30 and 60.

It all depends on what you want to see from film. A lot of people think it makes film look too much like video. Now, for those who think film on HD should look like HDTV, they may prefer that. Others would prefer maintaining the 24p cadence.

It took some getting used to. Film does look like video at that refresh rate and I wasn't sure if I would like it, but after a while, maybe a month, I just didn't notice it anymore.

Ive just recently bought the LNT5271 120hz lcd not sure if its 24fps also but it does make the BD movies crisp and clear so clear that it doesnt look like a film any more specially POTC its like your looking through glass or playing a HD camcorder - i try to turn it down set it to low and yes it does blur on some scene when the AMP is on but when its turn off the tv is excellent - you just have to see and check it out if the feature of the tv looks good to you.

What is better to view? I have a Samsung HL-T5687s and it looks to me that I need a firmware update on my TV for it to be able to do 24fps.
I was wondering if I should try to get the firmware update if it is that big of a difference? Thoughts? |

That thread you already had would have been a great place for that post.
