Default BDP-S300 Firmware

I have heard of the firmware upgrade for the PS3 to go 1.1. Does anyone know if they will do the same for the S300?

Not likely. We might get True HD and DTS MA decoding.

Not sure how Sony deals with their stand-alones, but a PS3 firmware has been confirmed for "the very near future."

I wouldn't bet on them being released concurrently, but with mainstream 1.1 titles hitting stores in January, it would be safe to say you can expect it in Q1 2008.

(not policing, but next time you should post questions regarding hardware over in the players forum)

The only BD players that will support profile 1.1 soon will only be for sure the PS3 and Panasonic's DMP-BD30K.

Yep and I suspect that the 1400 might just because of the chip used. But then again Samsung is not know for using everything they put in a product at least for Blu-ray.

You know it can be done through firmware, so what it comes down to is more money right?

No it comes down to hardware. The spec for hardware changed. So it need 256MB of persistant storage to be able to be 1.1 compliant as well as a second turner for PiP. So it comes down to does it have all the hardware needed.

So no we donot know if changes can be made through FW.

I listened to the HT guy podcast. They said it's best to buy PS3 because with the new profile. Bluray will include hard drive and ethernet. PS3 already has both. You might need to download the firmware that's it.
I own PS3 and Standalone. Personally I like PS3 due to quicker load time and Wifi for software and firmware update.
