Default New PS3 update fixes "jaggies" problem in PS2 Backward compatible games.

The interlaced issue has been fixed with line out hdmi. PS2 Games that looked like crap on the PS3 will now look normal.

Lots of people who got the update have been hitting the ps3forums and talking about this...

Now the Xbots will need something else to complain about.

This is the official update page. I expect to see this filled out before long with exactly what 1.5 does and how.

I downloaded and installed this morning.

You can also setup a picture of yourself as your avatar, friend requests that have been pending will say a little note and the brwoser and PS Stores are a bit faster and when using the controller to move the cursor it moves smoother and quicker

This is great news. I bet this pretty much fixes all the issues with backward compatibility. Now all we need is uscaling and we're all set.

Hey! I'm new to blu-ray and the forum. I got my PS3 less than 6 days ago, along with it I bought, Soul Calibur 3, God of War, Devil may cry 3 and ATV offroad fury, along w/ resistance of course.

I was very upset with the quality of Devil May Cry and ATV offroad, looked horrible!! almost unplayable. God of war and SC3 looked descent enough.

Today, my ps3 tells me to update, after 10 mins it's finished and both the older ps2 games that looked very bad, look great now. So I can vouch for this patch first hand.

Oh, I picked up Silent Hill, Aeon Flux, Crank, Species, Underwold, and Descent on blu-ray...so far I'm very pleased with blu-ray!

Congrats, Deads3t! You won't be disappointed, believe me. My brother took the PS2 off my hands a couple weeks ago, but I kept most of the games. And of course, he still visits to play some Marvel: UA or watch some Blu-ray flix.

.

I keep hearing about a rumor that the scaling chip is in the ps3 but hasnt been activated because they (Sony) didnt want developers to get lazy and not make games at 720p or 1080i/p and then rely on a scaling chip for upconversion. As of now, some 360 games are rendered at dvd quality and upscaled. Sony was trying to prevent this accoridng to this rumor.

Dude, haven't you heard? You're not supposed to want Blu-ray movie discs.

Welcome to the forum.

State-of-the-art DVD upscaling is definitely an H1 2007 item (maybe if luck is good, it will be ready even by March 23,).

But seriously.......

Aside from the PS1/PS2 games fix and the upcoming state-of-the-art DVD upscaling, what else needs fixing?

Any suggestions or fixes to add on the list?

I never had a ps2 been an xbox owner for 3 years, but followed the game releases and I knew I wanted to play God of War, SC3 and Devil May Cry.

Next up, I'll probably order Searchers and Black Rain.

Thanks.

This is really the first product I've been an early adopter, kinda risky but I wanted to see some high def movies.

You're right.

But there was a recent thread that mentioned the built-in scaler chip. Also mentions that the January SDK for the PS3 allows for horizontal scaling enabled.

So I guess this won't be an issue/problem anymore in the next few months.
