PS3 40G backward compatibility with PS2 games - Blu-ray Forum

I sort of regret getting a 40G now that i have seen a few older titles that I'd prefer to have on PS2 and I cant play PS2 on my 40G PS3..

anyway to remedy this without selling my current PS3 and buy a new 80G PS3?

(ie. software I can update/download or etc?)

Seriously considering the $499 MSG4 bundle with $100 gift card, IF AND ONLY IF someone is taking my 40G off me..

No remedy for it, no way to play PS2 games on the 40 gig PS3.

I think you forgot the word YET. Because there will be once they do the firmware for it. It wont be 100% BC but it will be good enough.

You can always get a brand new PS2 for around $100.

For that matter you could get a used one for maybe only $40-50 or a used PS2 bundle with a TON of games. On CL I see ~$100 being asked for PS2s with like 10-20 games all the time.

I heard something about a possible firmware update which would install an Emulator to play PS2 games on your PS3 console a while ago.

Maybe that will happen, but I don't know.

I heard the same thing... something about sony offering ps2 games online so they will enable 40gb ps3's to play ps2 games. Just a rumor right now though.

but that wouldnt be high def with PS2, would it?

I bought it on 3/28/2008 from Sonystyle store.

I still have the receipt and everything.. and original box/package.. heh~~

but yea, I kinda regret not getting the 80G, thinking I dont really need all that space and no need for the 4 port+ card slot... PS2.. so so...

oh well.. that was then...
