PS3 Slim will be Backward Compatibility

Hi to everyone,
I just wanted to pass the rumour:
Yesterday I went to a Sony store, I was looking at the new PS3 Slim and one of the guys came to me sking me if I was interested. I said no because I already own a classic 60GB and has backward compatibility. And he said: "Those are the best models ever made", then he started telling me that the PS2 cut price is to clean the shelves all around because PS2 is going out by March 2010. Before this, the new Slim PS3 will get Backward Compatibility thru a system update to cover the PS2 goodbye. He ended saying: "the new Cell chip can handled the Motion perfectly".
If this is true, then I will be thinking about getting the new Slim PS3.
